The wind seemed to bend beneath her wings. The sun illuminated her gray-blue feathers, and if one looked from the right angle, her great wings would appear to block out the sun. She dove, gaining speed and then spreading out her feathered wings. Her talons extended, and she snatched the smaller bird in them. She trilled and spiraled towards the ground, towards the grass rippling in the wind like green waves. It was a beautiful day- the sky was a brilliant shade of periwinkle blue, and the only clouds in the sky adorned the horizon.
The falcon landed, dropping her kill onto the ground and beginning to tear at its skin with her beak. See anything, Sky Queen?
Nothing but the wind and sky. And pidgeon.
Hellisphone tore a piece of flesh from her kill and swallowed it. She repeated this several times before finally finishing the meal and rising up to meet the sky once again. She called to the great blue sky, but the wind was the only answer. That was fine by her- she loved the wind. It was what guided her through the sky, what let her rest her wings. The circled around the area before diving down to the ground once more, this time beside a girl.
The girl turned to look at the bird. Hellisphone trilled again, shuffling her wings and beginning to preen her feathers. Find anything to eat? She paused for a moment. Maybe you should let me hunt for you. There's really nothing else to eat on this plain. I could go to a city and steal some food or something. I've seen a city, shouldn't be hard to take something. And what are they going to do, shoot me?
Amirya sighed. This time, she actually spoke instead of speaking through thoughts. "That might be a good idea." She agreed.
They were located in a little dip in the plains, in the tall grass. Amirya had made a makeshift bed, while Hellisphone was simply standing. The wool blanket was laying next to Amirya, pinned down by the girl's feet. The falcon shifted her position to lay down casually, tucking her head under her wing.
"Tired?"
Mhm...
