Okay. So some of you read my story on here. You know, that crappy one pager? Well. Since I have some time this summer I'm gonna start it over and I renamed it blood wars. I just finished the revamped chapter one. It's better than the other one atleast...
Ch.1: Reunion
He stood on the edge of the building, just out of range of the bright neon lights coming from the bar below. He brushed the edge of his coat out of the way and jumped, landing in an alley below. As he walked, no one bothered him about his attire. No one really cared anymore. There were so many vampire cos-players that the look was relatively common on the streets this late. If only they knew the truth of it. He grinned and then suppressed it when a young female cringed away from him.
With a sigh he made his way across the street and into another alleyway. It was the only quiet way to make an escape. If you jumped onto a building in the middle of the street, the whole town would be in an uproar. He paused as he entered the narrow corridor, a feeling of being watched stealing over him. He quickly glanced around before making his jump, landing with cat-like grace on the rooftop above him. He jumped to the side just in time as an arrow cut its way through the air. He hissed as a feather sliced his cheek, blood pooling into a small stream that slowly traced its’ way down. He turned and met a pair of vibrantly blue eyes.
A cool voice rang out, its’ timbre slightly alto, but carrying an almost soprano quality. “You’re in my hunting territory. Do you know what that means for your kind?” She asked, the brisk night air blowing his hair into his face. He pushed it away before getting a good look at her. She was relatively plain, her only distinguishing feature a pair of blue eyes that looked as though they could pierce your very soul. He slid his eyes over her, taking in the short but spiky brown and blonde hair, slightly short, and not quite toned figure. With a sneer he reached up and wiped the blood onto his finger before placing it into his mouth, wrapping his tongue around it to retrieve the drops. He frowned as he realized that it had no effect on her.
“And what, pray tell, do you do to my kind?” He asked, grinning savagely at her.
“Usually? I kill them.” Was her cool response, eyes not even flickering as she stared him down. He watched her with hawk like intensity as she drew back the string on her rather plain, old fashioned long bow and notched another arrow. She stared down the shaft, waiting for him to make his move.
It was almost as though she knew him. How he moved, what he did. It struck him as the shaft slid across his side, slicing his side and ruining his black shirt and piercing his coat. He smirked at her until he fell to the ground, gasping at the pain running through him.
“Oh, did I forget to mention my arrows are practically instant death to Vampires? Kova made them for me. Rather interesting little things. I believe she called them sevons…muttered something about capturing the essence of sunlight.” She smirked at his writhing figure. Despite the pain coursing through his body, he detected a slight change in her voice, a deeper voice making its self known. He growled internally as he recognized it.
“Akara.” He groaned, his voice losing some of its tension as the pain began to lower to a dull throb.
A smirk painted itself onto her lips, twisting her expression into something almost exotic. “You never were one to die easily, Draco.” That same alto voice projected itself from those lips. It was an earthly voice, almost entrancing to the human ears. It was one he’d heard a million times, mostly crying out for him to wait for her.
“Come, my love, don’t you want to show me your face? Or has it twisted with age as most humans? After all, it has been almost eighteen years.” He bit out, half rising from the ground. He stopped as he felt a jolt of pain run from that tiny slice in his side. He felt a gust of wind blow across his face, blowing his hair in front of his face once more. He cursed and reached up to brush it away, ignoring the twinge in his side. When he looked up he noticed that a small whirlwind had formed on the rooftop. He watched as a figure began to step out. She was as beautiful as she remembered, her long black hair whipping in the fierce wind. She looked down at him; her exotic almond shaped not quite emerald but not quite forest green eyes locked with his icy blue ones. She reached down with a pale hand and he grasped it, allowing her to help him to his feet.
“Why did you come? Why look for me now, after all this time?” She snapped, anger filling her voice.
“I’ve been looking for you since I got back!” He growled. “Ever since I got back from that hellish place! And what do I find when I return? You’re gone!” He cried out at his last statement, the anguish in his voice clear in the now silent air. And then I find you here of all places, at the beginning… I think that’s what hurt me the most. You had to come back here.” By the time he was through, he was on his knees, his head bowed and his eyes glittering with his tears.
“You looked for me?” Confusion clouded her voice. “But I thought…You went there to get away from me. Why after I was gone did you look for me?” She crouched in front of him, her eyes, locking with his. He felt a lurch in his stomach.
“Because no matter how much I tried to deny it then, I can’t live without you, because I love…” His sentence was cut off as a pair soft lips met his in a slow, languid kiss.
They both gasped as a black figure ripped him off of her. It slammed him to the ground, its’ grip on Draco’s throat threatening to choke him. A swirl of long black hair fell from the well groomed ponytail held at the figures nape.
“What the hell was that, Rom?!” She screamed, the anger evident in her voice. The teenager looked up at her, his leather clothing and slightly Indian look about him making him look like a sex god in the moonlight.
“You’re losing your touch, Kara. As far as I know you’re supposed to kill them, not kiss them.” He sneered at the blonde figure below him. The sneer faded and he paled slightly as he got a good look at him. “Draco.” He whispered venomously. He pulled him to his feet by his neck and then pulled him of his feet to hang about a foot off the ground. “What the hell are you doing back here? You just don’t take hints do you?” He slowly began to close his hand around the blonde man throat.
“Rom! Let him go! We need him!” She cried, pulling his arm down and letting Draco fall to the ground, coughing and holding his now bruised throat.
Romulus growled before relenting to her and slowly unfisted the hands at his side. He leaned close to her to whisper in her ear. “If anything happens, if he tries anything with her, I’ll kill him” She nodded her assent and reached down to help Draco to his feet.
They made their way through the empty alleys, ignoring the sound of the cities nightlife. Romulus led them through winding apartments and into what used to be an underground complex. “Watch your step.” He called back, his voice echoing slightly in the large chamber. The made their way down to ground level and Draco finally got a good look around. It seemed to be a vast stone chamber, filled with scaffolding and what looked like old mining equipment. Romulus turned to him. “This is as far as I’ll take you for now. Akara will show you the rest of the way.” With that he turned to her. “I must feed. I should be back to the complex before dawn.” He pulled her close, letting her seek the comfort of his warmth.
“Hurry.” Was all she whispered as with a slight brush of air he was gone. She looked up in time to see his shadow disappearing onto the scaffolding.
