Dyami was born in a manor house just outside Dras Leona during the end of the fall term. He was a very well behaved baby and grew up learning that the Empire was always right and that the king could do no wrong. For a few years nothing was different until the year that a soldier from the Empire came to the manor while Dyami was training in the back saying that Leon was under arrest for treason against the king.

Leon had resisted arrest and was able to alert Dyami to run before the soldier had killed him with a sword through the chest. Unfortunately the ten year old had seen the whole thing and then ran for the Varden, barely making it to Surda before the Empire caught up to him. The now eleven year old was immediately hidden away and continued to train until he could make it to the Varden. As soon as he did though, Nasuada heard who his father was and instantly told Dyami that Leon had been a lord for the Varden who had been assigned to infiltrate the Empire.

Nasuada showed sympathy for his loss and then taught the thirteen year old how to fight. It was years before Dyami turned nineteen and was able to be promoted to Troop Captain under Sir William. He was in the battle of Dras Leona when they took over the city and he was instantly awarded his old manor house to live in.

Dyami stands at six feet and one inch tall, not slim but not bulky either, with long arms and legs good for sword fighting. His skin in worn rough by the sun and is dark enough for him to be almost mistaken for a half breed of the nomads and the Alagaesians. Dyami has long brown hair that hangs in his eyes but is often times swept to the side and held there by a band of leather while he fights. His eyes are hazel and contemplative in nature, holding the fate of others within their depths as he looks at them for the first time.
