"When darkness comes, I'll light the night with stars, and you'll never be alone." - Whispers in the Dark by Skillet
•
An elven lady disguised by the ebony silk of her cloak quietly lounged in a side alley that branched off of the main road close to the main entrance of the city of Surda. Luminescent ebony and violet locks of hair streamed down in front of her facial features to hide her appearance from those that happened to pass by. Her colorless, crystal-like optics usually called unneeded attention to herself when her natural elven beauty didn't, which is why she had chosen a less traveled spot to rest after the long day of wandering the city in search of supplies to bring back to her camp on the outside territory of Surda where her companion and loyal friend for life Herion was awaiting her humble arrival.
She leaned back on the brick wall of what appeared to be an old pub that at one point had probably been very successful. Now, it was old and crumbling... a bit sad to look at really, but at least it most likely still had loyal customers that made it a habit to get their nightly drinks in. Her ivory steed that appeared to be of Elven ethnicity grazed on a patch of grass that grew by a well off to her right hand side. A wonderful horse. Amazing muscles tone, beautiful color, expensive saddle gear and such -- all of it was luxury. It was a way to keep intruding onlookers from questioning her presence. One that appeared to be of royalty was often not bothered, even though she was far from the sorts.
Anira quietly stared at her gloved hands that disguised the her mark that gave her off to be a Rider. Saddle bags rested beside her filled with needed supplies like food and water that would last them a few weeks before she would travel back into the city to join the Varden. The Rider had left unexpectedly a few months previously because of death threats by those associated with the Empire. There had been no time for goodbyes. She had merely left on the back of Herion to train and enhance their skills in order to become worthy opponents for anyone that chose to face them. Her strength was always growing, but would it be enough to keep the enemies from tearing down her mental walls? It would only be a matter of time before she'd found out, but until then, it was best to keep a low profile and get in and out of the city as quick as possible.

Saphone was flying on tintaglia for a bonding trip when they spotted the elf lady and saxophone directs tintaglia to land nearby and as always being on guard draws his sapphire blue sword and vaults off of tintaglia landing in front of her "be you friend or foe of the VARDEN?" Tintaglia glides down nearby watching from a distance not wanting to get involved*

The sudden appearance of the Rider was a bit startling and nerve wracking, but she quickly gathered her wits about her and slowly rose to her feet to greet the confrontation in a friendly manner. Given the words that had been spoken, it seemed that the Rider was that of the Varden, so Anira questioned herself on whether he could be trusted or not. The Empire was full of spies and hypocrites, and it would not be difficult for one to be disguised with the figure of an innocent. She would play this situation as she would any -- with wits and intelligence.
The disturbance in her mind caught the attention of Herion who was back at camp on the outskirts of Surda, lending his attention and peering in through her thoughts to seek out what was going on. He lent his strength to her weary being after the long day of walking about, ready to act on hand if something took place between the Rider and Dragon combination that he had noticed earlier flying high above the city. Herion remembered clearly that he warned Anira of their presence, but she had assumed that they would not be an issue and wouldn't notice one elven lady among the mass of people that lived in the city. Clearly she had not take the situation too seriously until now.
Herion listened in telepathically as she confidently introduced herself to the Rider. "Friend. I mean no harm to the Varden. I am merely passing through. I go by the title of Anira. I've come from," she paused, not wishing to disclose she had previously been hiding out in the Hadarac Desert,"Du Weldenvarden. I stopped by here on my travels to gather supplies and other necessities before continuing on my journeys."

Saphone rather calm now sheathed his sword and bowed before her twisting his hand over his sternum in the symbol of fealty and loyalty "I'm sorry for the alarm Anira but I can't be too careful these days the empire has spies everywhere and maybe I could help you on your journeys" he smiles politely to the elf and tintaglia walks over o n all fours opening her mind to Anira so they could speak "hello good elf I am Tintaglia and this is my rider Saphone we hail from the VARDEN" they smile*

Anira immediately calmed at the friendly introduction that took place after the alarming confrontation. It appeared she had nothing to worry about after all, as the two seemed polite and courteous enough. The two were a pair that she had never met before, probably having become joined at a later time than she, which is why they struck a peculiar curiosity in her. She knew plenty of Riders, friends and foes, all throughout Alagaësia and even a few in lands beyond, and it was always great meeting more -- for you never know when you might be in the presence of a legend to be.
The fact of the matter was whether she should introduce herself or not as a Rider or remain discreet in introducing herself entirely. It could be dangerous given the circumstances, so she decided it would be best to continue on as a non-Rider in their point of view, unless she saw fit. It was a possibility that they had sensed Herion and her strong energy from afar, but it depended on their aptitude as Riders.
"Of course. I completely understand the need for worry in times like this. It is impossible to know who to trust it seems. I am merely a neutral elf as of this moment; however, I may be joining the Varden soon enough. It is a worthy cause, and my abilities are always available to those who need it," she stated in her flowing and gracious voice, knowing that he would understand that of the abilities of one from the elven race. Elves were dangerous. Both mentally and physically, though humans could be as well. Ferocious beings they are, really. She returned the bow with one smooth gesture, a light smile tainting her features at the friendliness.

Saphone smiled at her and blushed at the smile "why that is good to hear from a fellow elf especially as one so fair and beautiful as you my fair Anira" he smiled back and felt a warm body come close to him and upon seeing the color of her scales he said "this is Tintaglia she is my dragon and we studied under the great rider Oromis for many years and so we have sided with the varden" tintaglia then says "I sense there is another dragon nearby is this true anira?" She said flashing a toothy smile*

Anira was flattered by the amount of compliments she had received by the newly met familiar. She was not used to it. The typical reaction to her odd appearance was that of envious smirks or confused stares. If her elven identity was concealed from beneath her cloak, it was often her colorless eyes that gave her away to most. Those that knew her were aware of the strange phenomenon that took place when she made contact with Herion's egg at the moment of the bonding of Rider and Dragon. Her ebony locks of hair had transformed in a way that made it so the light revealed violet streaks, giving it an almost luminescent sheen that had a somewhat weird beauty to it. Other than those two features, she had the typical Elven body structure. Slim, fairly tall, stamina-rich, long legs for quick sprints, and countless other minute details that would take all day to relate.
The question of another presence in the air crossed out the possibility of hiding the truth of her actually being a Rider. It was no point in disguising the fact when the evidence was quite clear.
"Ah, yes, it is quite true. I am Anira, also known as Argetlam, or, in our language, Shur'tugal. I am a Rider such as yourself. My fellow companion is Herion. We have a camp made on the outskirts of Surda for the time being. We did not wish to cause any fright among the people with the presence of an unknown Rider and Dragon," Anira stated ever-so-carefully in a manner that would not conceal her entire plans for the time being. It was not intelligent to trust someone you just met, as trust came with time. Anira ungloved her right palm to reveal the mark, remembering the moment she had received the glowing emblem like it was yesterday.

Saphone bowed and knelt before her "I understand how you feel my fair Anira that was how I felt before I joined the varden and Tintaglia would like to meet this herion if that's ok?" Tintaglia smiled looking around for the other dragon eagerly "She rarely sees dragons that are friendly and may I accompany you on your journey perhaps?"*

The question of joining Herion and she on the journey to overcome the Empire was a serious and debatable decision that would have to be discussed with Aysten, Sora, and Herion himself. She could not take it lightly, as it would most likely be a dangerous expedition filled with deadly missions that would require the utmost skill and intelligence. It was better to not travel in groups as well, as to not draw any attention -- though there was safety in numbers. She pushed the matter aside in her mind to be thought over, deciding to give the two a mere "maybe", which would be understandable at such a committed statement.
"I would have to discuss the matter of accompanying us with Herion and a fellow Rider and Dragon associate of ours, so I can not give you a yes or no answers as of yet. I warn you it would not be a journey of safety and welfare, but if you are the kind for adventure, then we would most likely enjoy having you travel with us," she responded first and foremost to Saphone, nodding in a thankful manner at the thoughtful gesture.
The Elven lady then turned her attention to Tintaglia, casting a precarious glance off in the direction their camp was concealed at. "Herion is back at camp; however, he sends his utmost regards and wishes to greet you both equally. If you would like to accompany me back to where we pitched camp outside of Surda, then he would enjoy speaking with you. He always enjoys meeting Riders and Dragons we have not yet met before."

Saphone was the one to answer for them "of course I understand my fair and beautiful Anira and I am one for adventure as is Tintaglia and we would love to accompany you back to your camp and I promise we will not betray you should you allow me to join" he spoke the truth both with his heart and in the Ancient Language in which he can not lie**

Anira gave a nod of approval to Saphone and Tintaglia before clicking her tongue in a peculiar fashion that signaled for her steed to advance forward. The ivory beast raised his sculpted muzzled from the few strands of grass he had been munching on to lightly tread over to the fairly tall Elven lady, dipping his neck downward as a sort of familiar greeting. Before Anira had ever been a Rider, horseback riding was her custom way of traveling when she wasn't getting to her destination on foot, so she had quickly become accustomed to having a horse once again. Herion was obviously a bit jealous of all the attention the horse received, but it was easier to spoil a horse with carrots and oats than a dragon that would prefer elk and lamb stew.
Anira proceeded to mount the horse with one smooth gesture, adjusting till she became comfortable in the silver adorned saddle with beads of amethyst decorations towering down the flank. She took hold of the reins and turned towards a side entrance that led out of the city, motioning for the two to follow if they so wished. She could have traveled with Saphone upon Tintaglia, but she couldn't just leave her trusty steed in the middle of a busy city like Surda.
"Come, I'll show you the way." she stated nonchalantly in her mild tone of voice, peering straight ahead to avoid contact with any passerby.

As the pair grew closer they would notice a fire, The smell of smoke and cooking food also filled the air, Mainly meat being cooked over anything else however. As they drew even closer more details would be noticeable, Such as two fires. One which held the carcass of a dear being spitroasted. Then the other a cauldron of what seemed to be soup. A man hovered inbetween the fires, Sitting on a log with the massive form of what appeared in the firelight to be a teal dragon behind him. Every once in awhile he stood up and walked over to one fire or another to check on the progress of the two meals before once again returning to sit down.
Aysten had just sat down again and leaned up against Sora with a soft sigh as he heard the crunching of twigs and leaves, A soft smile coated his face as he realized that would be Anira returning, But wait...No...He detected two people. This dampened his smile as he grew worried, Was Anira in trouble? Was this person going to try and hurt them both? A soft mental comforting touch from Sora drew those worries away and once again the smile returned.
"Thank you Sora, I needed that." He pat her on the side before speaking to her mentally again."You and Herion's treat will be done soon, That dear is taking longer to cook than I thought it would." Aysten said with another small smile on his clearly Human face. He stood up as the footsteps reached the camp, He walked over towards Anira and the guest. "Anira." He said with a wide smile and a polite bow. He then glanced at the other person. "Greetings friend."
