Now that the Empire has been defeated by the Varden, Alagaesia is in need of a new ruler. This time, to stop one person having all the power in case they then go crazy, the Varden have decided that a Council will be formed. Members of this Council can be nominated by anyone, including themselves, and the Varden will vote on who gets each position. Before finalising the Council, they will allow any member of the public to raise any objections, to make sure there are no major issues with each person being put in a position of power.
Suggest characters for each position in this thread! If you want your character to be on the Council, post here giving their name, the position, and why you think they'd suit it. Remember it has to make sense in-game that people would support them in becoming one of the people who rules the country. You can also suggest other people's characters! In that case, the owner can just say whether or not they'd be happy having the character suggested on the Council. If it's too hard to make a decision, we'll make a poll for everyone to vote on. If no one goes for one of the positions, that position will be filled by an NPC.
The positions are:
Overall leader (king/queen/prime governor/whatever the title would be)
Second (vice leader/hand of the king-esque role, again title not decided)
Elf representative (all the reps are there to advise and make sure the groups they represent have a say, deciding for themselves where to draw lines in terms of how much they're willing to let their groups compromise keeping in mind others won't be happy if they don't budge when everyone else does)
Human rep
Urgal/Kull rep
Rider rep
Dwarf rep
Minority rep (one rep for all the minority races eg rangers, dragon spirits, wargs rather than one rep for each of these races since otherwise the council would get too big)
Treasury Master (looks after all the money)
Captain of the Guard (in charge of all the armies and guards)
If there are any other positions you think should be on the Council, just say so and we may add them to the list! Any minor roles can be filled by NPCs or OCs, and your character may still be called upon for help, for example if they're an expert doctor and they need to deal with an epidemic, without them being involved in politics.
Those in the major Council positions listed above will meet regularly to discuss the running of the country and will meet more often in times of need.
