Tiir was standing on rise just outside Belatona. He wore the colors of an Empire soldier, the king was dead but he had never considered himself part of the Empire anyways. It had been some time before he had a decent meal, of magic that was. He'd been sent far to the east on a mission for the king. Finally sick of taking orders he had killed the squad he was with and come back. He knew little of what was going on now but he didn't need to, he didn't really care either. His horse nudged his shoulder and he waved it away. He would've killed the horse and taken the little magic energy it contained but he needed it. Sure he could walk but a horse was faster and he could get more magic that way.
He watched the town, it was night fall and he could see the gleam of light in the windows. Where should his target be? Who had the most magic in belatona? He didn't expect much resistance, the Varden had moved on or at least he thought they had.

Moratensis was sick of it. He spat into the hard ground underneath his feet as he trod through Belatona. After a slight mishap with the Elves again, he had finally managed to get out of that tangled mess. After feeding on the magic in the Elves he had murdered, he craved more. He couldn't stop the pleasure that went through him as he thought of the magic he felt after he murdered them. Most people, even fully grown men would've been disgusted at the prospect of killing people. For Moratensis, though, he enjoyed it. He savored the feeling of the magic as it rushed through his blade and into him. He thought Belatona would offer some magic similar to the Elves'. Even if he couldn't find any Elves to murder, he was sure that if he went through enough Humans he'd be fine with that, too. He paused for a moment as his mind wandered around as a force of habit. He felt a tendril of thought that was similar to his own. Too similar. He took a sharp breath as he realized what that meant. Another Mage Hunter was in town.
He fast walked through the town to where he felt three other minds in a room of one of the inns. Of the three, one seemed to be an Elf, the other two seemed to be Human. But they were Humans with magic. Not anything in comparison to the Elf, of course, but at least it wouldn't be plain old. He walked into the inn, his cloak around him. Many of the people inside turned to the door to see the relatively small figure. They turn back to their conversations. Few to none really cared about what seemed like a child. Which was fine by Moratensis. That left him to quench his lust for magic as he pleased. He went up the stairs, hand on the hilt of Hell-Reaver. Approaching the door, he considered his options. Obviously, it would be best to immobilize the Elf first. If he tried to free himself or use any magic, he could just absorb it.
Opening the door, he deftly jumped in, Hell-Reaver in a large arc. As he swung, he inspected the three in front of him. Of the two Humans, one seemed rather agile and lean. The other was more bulky and muscular. He decided to deal with the more agile one for now. Muscle he could avoid if he was faster, and he didn't want to test his odds against the lean and agile looking man. The Elf seemed rather normal. Fair with long blonde hair to his shoulders. He had penetrating blue eyes in comparison to Moratensis' charcoal grey. All these thoughts quickly rushed through his mind as Hell-Reaver caught the man in the throat and decapitated him. He turned to the other man, following up with a swipe across his chest. As soon as Hell-Reaver tasted the man's blood, he ignored him and left him to bleed out. That was all he needed to absorb the energy. He turned to the Elf last, grinning. The Elf tried to cast an immobilizing spell on him, which he just shrugged off as he absorbed the energy. In turn, he cast his own immobilizing spell on the Elf. Leaning closer, he lowered his cloak off his head. He flared up his magic, signalling the other Mage Hunter. The two Humans had been quite a snack. He could afford giving up the Elf.

Tiir was surprised seeing the signal, he didn't know it was for him. Curiosity more than anything drove him to it. He led his horse into town ignoring most people he passed they weren't worth his time since they possessed so little to no magic. And while scaring them would be amusing he was more interested in who had sent such a signal. When he got to the inn he slipped the reins over a post so his horse wouldn't run off then went inside. He stopped in the door way surprised by the scene. He wasn't bothered by it though maybe any normal person should've been.
His gaze settled on Moratensis and the elf, and a bemused smile appeared on his face. He had never met one of his own kind before but either Mortensis was like him or he was insane. Either was fine but maybe it was the same thing. Maybe he was insane.
He crouched down and swiped a finger through some of the blood on the floor then licked his finger. "Who are you?" he asked finally. His tone was certain and calm, he wasn't even slightly afraid.

Moratensis turned to see the other Mage Hunter. He was pleased to see the man wasn't bothered by the scene. It would be quite tragic to see a Mage Hunter who couldn't stomach this kind of stuff. After all, this was their life source and food. He sheathed Hell-Reaver as the Elf whimpered. The Elf seemed rather young to him. He couldn't have been above his 20s, considering his reaction. He settled his finger below the Elf's chin and tapped lightly on it, forcing the Elf to look him in the eyes. His charcoal gray eyes revealed how amusing and entertaining he thought the speculation was. He stood up and removed his cloak, revealing his attire. He wore the traditional clothes given to graduates of the Academy, and for once they were all clean.
"Now now, no need to be hasty. Common manners dictate you introduce yourself first. Before that, you are also obliged to finish your meal and not talk with your mouth full. You can know this much at least; I'm a passing Mage Hunter who noticed you off to the sides. I found these three gentlemen, had my own share of the delicacy and thought I'd share. No harm done, eh? Go ahead, enjoy yourself." he said to the man, sitting down onto one of the beds, leg over leg. He watched the Mage Hunter with intrigue, wondering how he would respond.

Tiir nodded and moved towards the elf unable to hide his eagerness. He glanced at Moratensis with a bit of suspicion but he wasn't one to pass up a free meal. The elf watched him for a moment then bolted. Tiir just laughed and tripped him before decapitating him in one smooth well practiced motion and ate. When he was done he got up wiping the blood off that had gotten on him as best he could. He sat down on a chair across from Moratensis. "I'm Tiir Rumibil, formerly Empire soldier," he said. Though the later could be guessed by his attire. "I've never met anyone who has the same taste as me," he said. "Thank you for the meal." Usually Tiir didn't show this much curtsey to anyone but Moratensis had caught his interest. They were more equals than food vs predator. "So who are you?"

Moratensis' eyes glittered with something akin to amusement, satisfaction, and pleasure as the Elf made a run for it. He left it to Tiir to decide what to do. He looked on as he tripped the Elf and decapitated him. He stared at the blood pooling on the floor and couldn't help himself from running a finger through it and licking it. Elf blood tasted different no matter how you looked at it. It was richer and more refined. He sat back up on the bed, resuming his original pose. He listened to the man who had introduced himself as Tiir Rumibil. He nodded in acknowledgement as Tiir introduced himself.
Giving a nasty grin, Moratensis said, "Indeed, it's not often that I pass by someone who has the same taste. Glad to see some people still understand it all." he paused and responded to the thanks, "Not at all. You enjoyed it, I take it?" he stopped for a moment before continuing, "My name is Moratensis. Just Moratensis. Formerly.. Empire, I guess, actually. Mostly though I just killed the Elves for them. I didn't bother to do anything official or stuff like that. I was just in for the entertainment and the rich delicacies, nothing more." he let himself ease up some more. He realized that both Tiir and himself had quite a bit in common. Perhaps they could pass some time through some entertaining ways.

Tiir smiled. "Yes, it's been a long time since I had an elf," he said. "Empire? I never heard of you. Then again the Empire kept many secrets. Sounds like you got the better deal getting to hunt elves. I was part of the military, I never got near the elves unless they got mixed up in the Varden. I thought I was the only one like this, I'm glad to see I'm not," he said.
"I didn't so much like working for the Empire, but at least it made it entertaining to have the war. My military unit didn't like what I did so I devoured them, that was amusing. The next unit I was with was scared and kept their distance," he added. "So why have I never heard of you."

Moratensis nodded. Of course he'd be suspicious. He'd not be a Mage Hunter if he weren't. He took a breath before starting, "Because I wasn't exactly part of the Empire. I simply noted down the Elves that were troublesome to the Empire, informed the Empire that I'd deal with the Elf in question and do the deed." he relayed to Tiir, a glimmer in his eyes. He shook his head, "You've never lived if you've not been able to enjoy an Elf or two. That taste, he nodded to the dead Elf, "was something I'd taste ever day."
He chuckled as Tiir relayed his part of the story. "There are plenty others like us, just most of them haven't the guts to reveal themselves or do what we do. Though, considering we're already here, why don't we brush up on one another? After all, I dare say neither of us quite have somewhere to return to and I'm certain neither of us have any commitments." he told Tiir, an edge to his voice. It felt gratifying, really. "I've been through the Academy for five years to train after I was noticed for my abilities. Though the training was hell, the reward was great." he explained to Tiir about himself a little as he raised a hand slightly, igniting a small black orb of flame made of pure magic. He watched it, his eyes glittering. He turned back to Tiir and asked, "How about you? How'd the world unfold around you to turn you into what you are now?"

Tiir nodded and listened, seeing the small black orb of flame he stared at it hungrily wanting it. It took him a moment to snap out of it and realize Moratensis was waiting for his reply and a moment more to realize what he'd said. "Oh, I grew up in Marna. I melt a few elves there and grew hungry for their magic, I didn't kill anyone then. The Empire took notice and drafted me into the military. I got up to Lieutenant, then the war ended. I didn't know there was anyone else like me until I met you just now."
His attention wandered back to the orb of flame. "How are you doing that?" he asked. He'd never been able to cast magic. He could absorb it or redirect it but he'd never been able to use it himself. Then again he never had much training the Empire just used him as a tool. His hands clenched the edge of the chair he was on, usually he didn't bother to show restraint and just took whatever magic or life he wanted. He would've taken the flame orb now but some how it didn't seem like a good idea. Clearly Moratenis was more advanced than him, he wasn't dealing with some low life magic user, Mortenis was an equal and Tiir wasn't experienced with keeping his hunger under control.

Moratensis smiled, glad Tiir had caught on to the bait he was swinging. No Mage Hunter would be able to resist the hunger after seeing raw magic right in front of their eyes. He extinguished the magic and began his explanation, "It's a bit hard to explain, really. You know how you feel the magic of a person flow through you when you drain 'em?" he paused before continuing, "It's the same here, but instead you're forcing the flow out from your core. I've not got any fancy tricks up my sleeve, but I can harden my magic into raw magic and use it as a weapon, as well as conjuring flames."
Standing up, Moratensis moved next to Tiir. He looked Tiir in the eye and said, "For starters, I'll help you force the magic out into your hand. The more you get the hang of it, you'll be able to do it on your own." placing a hand on Tiir's chest. He closed his eyes, siphoning the energy in Tiir. Except, instead of siphoning it into himself, he siphoned it to Tiir's right hand. The rest was up to Tiir.

Tiir nodded but didn't really understand what Moratensis meant. He'd seen others use magic plenty of times but he'd never had any luck himself. Maybe it was different for their kind. Other magic users had tried to teach him but the method might have been all wrong. There was proof right in front of him that it was possible to have a hunger for magic and to use it.
A sense of panic tore at him when he felt the magic siphoning out. It felt all wrong, unnatural he consumed magic not released it. Well not unless he had to but that was only to reflect it back at the caster so it wasn't really his yet when he did that. He tried though to focus on the energy in his hand, there was only a brief spark of a flame but it vanished as fast as it came and he couldn't take it and consumed the energy again. He stood up and moved away from Mortensis so he wouldn't do it again. "That feels horrible," he complained. He'd never had his magic taken from him ever, even though Morantensis hadn't really taken it only sort of. He looked almost frightened of what had happened.

Sitting back down onto the bed, Moratensis watched in relief. He felt bad, of course. He remembered how it had felt originally. Felt terrible and wrong. Though it was a relief to see that Tiir was.. well, normal. Few to no people would consider Tiir normal but the fact that he still felt and hated the feeling of having his magic being forcefully siphoned was normal to a Mage Hunter. Shrugging, Moratensis said, "Well, I guess it's not meant for everyone. After all, there aren't many Mage Hunters who can do that. They called me a progeny. Though frankly I'm pretty sure that was their attempt at appeasing to my vanity." he sympathized with Tiir, remembering well how it had first felt.
"But there are other ways to put your talents to use. For one, this city doesn't have that many guards. It's literally an open buffet. Considering I'd not had such a large meal presented to me for free in a long time, I'm ready to dig in. Though I must ask, how about you Tiir? You feeling up for a stuffing meal?" he asked, looking outside the window. The sun was setting. The moon was rising. Transitioning between day and night. With darkness and a slight shimmer from the moon the only light in the city, Moratensis muttered under his breath in a low but audible voice, "Tonight.. we shall have our feast."
(Sorry it took so long, but as I said I've been having some issues with my health. Scrapping this up took me quite awhile. :S)

( no problem, I hope it gets better. )
Tiir nodded. "Maybe humans are pathetic that way. They scare easily too. I'll try to learn that it would be useful. At best I can usually reflect magic," he said. That was about as close as he got. He didn't like it since it wasn't consuming it but sometimes it was useful to reflect a spell back at it's caster. In the least if it killed the caster he would get a meal from it.
"A meal would be splendid, it's the very reason I came here," he said his expression changing to anticipation. He stood up and went to the window looking out it. His stance was casual like he was waiting for someone to bring him something he'd requested. But there was a hunger in his eyes, he was ready to feast. "Where will you go after we feast? I think I'd like to travel with you for a time," he said. Moratensis was the first he'd ever met that was his equal and he didn't want to let it go quite yet. He was curious, as it was he didn't know much about his abilities or if there were more too them, but maybe Moratensis knew more.

"Perhaps that is true. Though I find that most of the time the most powerful weapon for a human is controlling their emotions. Whether it's fear, confusion, anger, rage, or hate, it all depends on how you control it. Rage, anger, hatred, fear, and all your emotions can be harnessed to your strength. Whether or not you've the clarity to do so depends on a lot of things. Most of the time I find I don't. Though that's just me, perhaps you have better luck." Moratensis explained. In his opinion, it depended completely on your emotions. Whether or not you harness your emotions or they harness you. "That's generally more than enough, really. If it doesn't kill them then it scares them enough to paralyze them with fear."
Shrugging, Moratensis said, "Honestly I'm not too sure. If anything I'll probably travel the Provinces - I've heard four of Galbatorix's offspring ended up as leaders of some of these Provinces. Plus I've heard a storm is brewing. Perhaps they might need some power to help them out. If you know me then you'd know I'm all about the combat. If they need it that much they might just pay me to do it, too. I also need to brush up on my combat skills a bit."
With that all having been said, he wrapped himself with his cloak again, unsheathing Hell-Reaver. Nodding to Tiir, he walked out of the room and the night of terror in Belatona began. A customer in the inn noticed Moratensis. The man seemed to be a middle aged man, perhaps he had family, but Moratensis didn't quite care. With a fluid motion, he slit the man's throat. Continuing, Moratensis began a culling of the people in this town in the Province of Belatona. With the energy of so many people flowing through him, Moratensis felt invincible and cocky. He mowed through the streets, cutting left and right, throwing beams of pure energy all around, causing more carnage and death. It was going to be a fun night.
