Emiryal stood in the dense forest of the elves. His dragon was in a meadow some distance off hunting. The thick trees made it impossible for the dragon to land here. But the dragon wasn't what was on Emiryal's mind. Before him lay ruins of a former elven city, until recently it had been unknown and undiscovered. Even the oldest elves didn't know what it used to be. The ruins almost looked more human like than elven as the ruins seemed to be stone buildings. Only a few walls now stood.
As Emiryal explored the ruins it started to rain and grow dark from the storm clouds. Then something caught his attention. A pedestal in the middle of the ruins was glowing blue and the inscription on it read: May those who suffered here find peace.

A brand new council had been formed and each of its members were working with hardly enough time to get more than a few hours of sleep each night to try establishing a new order before Alagaesia could descend into chaos and confusion with no clear rules and leadership. All the more reason for Isrydia and Arlyn to avoid Uru'baen. All their friends there were stressed out of their minds. No time was available for them to spare leisurely with friends. The Rider and dragon had been wandering before, but now avoiding politics combined with relishing the new freedom had driven them to stray ever further. They had been heading north, reaching Gil'ead just before the council was formed, and saw no reason not to continue that trend, being so close to Du Weldenvarden. The elves knew a lot, so why not expand their own knowledge? They didn't head straight for Ellesmera this time, excited to see more of elven culture in other towns.
They had seen a dense area of forest, too dense for Arlyn to land. Seeing that most of the forest was too dense to land for some miles, they decided to land before it and carry on on foot to avoid being stuck in the air with nowhere to land. The ice blue dragon was just able to fit through the trees, though a larger dragon would struggle. At least that meant they weren't likely to run into any twisted Empire Riders; most of those who had stayed evil after the battle had dragons much bigger than Arlyn thanks to all sorts of growth enchantments.
Suddenly Arlyn stopped. "What?" Isrydia wasn't sure why she was whispering.
"I don't know, I just thought... maybe it's some weird dragon thing or maybe I'm just imagining it, but I swear I just felt uneasy. Like some memory of bad things up ahead," the feeling was gone now, and Arlyn was doubting whether he felt it at all. It was as if he was feeling foreboding for something that was in the past now, an echo of something bad. He shared the feeling with his Rider and she frowned.
"The trees get more dense up ahead. We may as well explore it, but I think you might have to stay behind," Isrydia said, loath to leave him. He wasn't happy about it either but curiosity had sparked in him.
"Go on, I can't not know what's there. I'll find a way in if you get into trouble," he said, nuzzling her. He watched her walk off then bounded back to see if he could find anything else. Perhaps a clue of what lay ahead, or maybe something else entirely. This forest was full of surprises.
It started to rain. Isrydia stumbled over old roots that battled for space on the leaf-strewn ground. She pulled up the hood of her cloak against the falling water, an old faded green one she'd had since before Arlyn hatched. Up ahead she could make out buildings. No, ruins. They loomed out of the gloom tinted green by the thick canopy. There she also saw a man. Fear had been kindling in her since she found the ruins until she recognised his face. "Emiryal?" she called to him. "It's Isrydia. What is this place?" she asked. She hadn't known him that well but had fought with him and the other Varden Riders. Her eyes found the glowing pedestal in the centre. "What's that?"

Rixen has sprinted for one entire day now. He hadn't eaten or drank anything in twenty four hours with single minded determination to reach the ruins before the perso. Who had hit the tripwire. Years ago, Rixen was in the elven forest traveling in search of elves to recruit when he stumbled upon the ruins of an unknown civilisation. In the centre of it all, was a book on a pedestal. It was written in a language that hasn't been used in several centuries And try as they might, the spirits in him couldn't translate them either. During his time traveling, he had figured out the language but couldn't find the ruins again. Until now. The tripwire that Rixen had put there years ago provided him of the location of itself and acted like a beacon for his mind. Then, he'll have to walk twenty steps north and he'll be there. Rixen grimaced and redoubled his efforts. He was still dressed the same as when he dashed from his meeting: a formal tunic, trousers, a graceful rallied steepled to his belt and leather shoes. He was about to seal the deal of his company: Blackmoore Shipping to buy hundreds of logs for the boats. Too late now, he thought as his feet lightly crunched the pine needles, heading further into the forest. Finally, he reached his beacon and shut it down with word. Rixen sighed. He could have taken a horse but those beasts were too slow. Especially when it came to navigating through a dense forest. Finally, he stopped. He was pleased to see that he wasn't even breathing hard. He cautiously walked North, remembering the route he had taken years ago. He finally, opened his mind, enjo- His mind instantly bumped into the heavily shielded kind of a dragon and further up, two other creatures. They were too far to tell. Tracking their movements, Rixen slowly advanced North, half preparing for a r Fight which he witches to avoid until he got the writing on the book down onto his notebook and branded into his head. [(Daamnn. It's 2am already)]

The trips to Ellesmera had grown less frequent over time for one particular half elf. Yet that didn't mean he didn't occasionally journey through the darker parts of Du Weldenvarden for some time alone. As Brenton ran from tree branch to tree branch he gathered his thoughts and soon was humming softly to himself. Not many would be this far so it was the perfect time to think things through.
First was the war between the Varden and the Empire. It had finally ended with Galbatorix falling to the ground dead but it left the world in disarray and chaos. So a council had been established and some of his friends sat upon that council. Still it meant little to the disgraced elven knight because he was no longer making decisions. A small provincial area just past here was where Brenton intended to stay and potentially become lord of but he wouldn't interfere again.
With a sudden startling clarity, Brenton felt a dark aura around where he was so the knight slowed and focused upon it. Something made him nervous and then there was the slight presence of two riders as well as another person. This was too far out for casual encounters so something must be happening. The half elf drew Undbitr to be safe and then leapt to the forest floor where he could move easier.
Brenton had gone another ten feet when he came across ruins and then saw a couple of his friends. One of them was Emiryal Nyteshaed and the other was Isrydia. A nervous tension overcame Brenton but he forced it down and reminded himself that he hadn't meant to hurt her. Slowly Brenton sheathed the blue sword and walked out so they could see him.

Walking through the forest of Du Weldenvarden was what seemed a handsome young man, humming a tune to himself, waving his head with the tune. Though it seemed the man was just in his 20's, the man, Anurin, was actually over a thousand years of age. He had decided to stop by the forest to see how the Elves were doing, especially considering he had been in his hometown nearby. Beside the fact that it had been the Elves who had helped him and Vanilor when they had been young. In addition, with many people whom he was acquainted with busy on the council, he had time to spare. The Air Branch was already back in same old shape. Considering it had been relatively untouched, no time was spent on repairing, but rather only to manage their powers. Vanilor was with him, as usual, but stayed up in the skies. Landing in the forest would be quite impossible for the old dragon, plus he rather enjoyed flying much more and it didn't consume much of his energy as it used to.
As he walked, Anurin felt Vanilor brush up on his mind. "It seems there's going to be a slight rain shower. Anything unusual down there, Anurin?" he heard Vanilor ask him in the confines of his mind. Anurin shook his head before remembering that Vanilor couldn't see him.
"Everything seems to be alright. Though I do feel the presence of quite a few folks off to the side. A Rider and a dragon - hmm, their minds seem rather familiar. Another Rider and a dragon, though the dragon is farther off and I don't recognize them. A Shade and.. Brenton." Anurin responded to Vanilor.
High up in the sky, Vanilor noticeably hardened his movements and his mind. He had mixed feelings of Brenton, though no matter what the man may have had done in the past, Vanilor knew he was a good man deep inside. Reaching out with his own mind, he noticed that the darkness from the cruxis crystal that Brenton once had was gone. He was glad to see that and he relaxed as he realized it.
Anurin walked toward where he had felt the cluster of people. He was surprised, to an extent, to see a Shade. After all, he had made quite an effort to hunt down as many as he could. Walking through the forest, he was admitted to the ruins of what was once a city. Anurin recognized it to a slight extent, and he noticed a blue light. Off to the side of his eyesight, he recognized the first Rider and dragon as Isrydia. With a smile on his face he approached them, waving, "Hey over there. Long time no see, huh? How have you two been?" he said a merry tune in his voice.
Vanilor, in turn, reached his mind out to the pair and said, "Glad to see you two well and fine. How do you do? Also, what brings you here? his deep voice rumbling through their minds.
When you die, your world ends. The world may go on, but in your eyes, the world ends with you.

Emiryal jumped hearing Isrydia and cursed himself for not paying better attention. While there was no harm done and it was times of peace now he still felt like he needed to be on edge ready for a fight. "I'm not sure," he said. "Maybe it's just the rain but this place feels sad like something horrible happened." He heard Brenton coming as well as Rixen before he saw them. He wouldn't be caught off guard so easily again. He glanced at them both when they both came into view.
He smiled seeing Brenton, it had been some time since they last spoke and a lot had changed. At least Galbatorix was gone now. "What are you doing here?" he asked the question was for them both. It was strange to think so many found this place by accident, surely one of them knew about it maybe even knew what happened here in a place lost even to memory. The ruins, maybe they drew people here of their own accord or maybe there was some other reason.

Isrydia nodded. "I get that feeling too, we might not just be imagining it," she told Emiryal. She thought more of the feeling now she wasn't the only one sensing it. All of a sudden more people joined them. She was not pleased to Brenton. It was hard to think of him as a friend any more when he kept breaking promises. He was too angry, always being aggressive for no reason. It was stupid and earned him more enemies. What had given her the growing negative opinion was that after telling him she didn't like him in any way more than a friend, most decent people would have respected her and backed off, but he kept on saying he'd let it go then act like an arrogant self-entitled jerk all over again. It was as if he thought she didn't get a say in where any relationship between them went. She and Eragon had helped rid him of his cruxis crystal and he had promised to make things better between them, but after breaking his past promised literally every time they met, she didn't believe a word of it. It was impossible to trust him. "Brenton." Her tone was colder than she had been going for. She made no move to go any nearer to him, or even look too much in his direction.
Anurin she greeted with more warmth. "Anurin, good to see you!" She respected him and Valinor greatly as ancient Riders and the Elders of the Air Branch. Recently she and Arlyn had been practising more tricks in the skies but they hadn't been to the Citadel in a while.
"We were in the area when I felt something a bit odd in this direction, just for a moment," Arlyn paused to share the brief uneasy feeling that had passed over him. "I thought it probably wasn't anything, but with nothing better to do Isrydia wanted to go explore anyway. Good thing she did!"
Four of them now stood in these obviously infrequently visited ruins. It struck Isrydia as unlikely that just one of them should stumble upon the ruins, let alone four at the same time. The chances where astronomically small. "Does anyone else think it's strange how these ruins have clearly gone countless years without visitation and suddenly four people just happen to stumble across them at exactly the same time? The chances are phenomenally small, it can't just be a coincidence."

Brenton recoiled from the cold tone in the words Isrydia spoke towards him and the distrusting gaze she cast his way. Slowly he looked toward her once more and grimaced in frustration towards her reaction to him now that he was trying to change. Yet the distrust didn't hurt him, since he deserved it after so many false hopes. Instead what stung was how he still didn't hold it aagainst her that it was her hand that killed Grazael but she didn't trust him when most of his actions were done under dark influence. Hypocrisy doesn't suit you, Isrydia...I'm sure Grazael would agree with me right now.
Leaving her to realize what she had done on her own time, the knight looked around the group and bowed his head respectfully to them all. First he acknowledged Anurin and Vanilor who didn't appear to harbor ill thouthoughts about him. Although that was normal for beings as old as they were. Next he spoke to Emiryal. I was traveling the old paths I ventured when deep in thought. Just happened to be close enough to see something happening and so came here. It is good to see a friend who doesn't turn their back on me for my mistakes with dark magic. The last of the comment was directed towards Isrydia in part and about Laetri who had done the same recently.
Grazael, half buried in his own brooding, recognized Arlyn and chose to reach out to his brother. He has a point brother. Our riders may be stubborn and think they are both right but the truth is they both made mistakes. Brenton is trying to atone for his but what did Isrydia do when she killed me in front of him? Yet he holds no ill thoughts toward her.

Taking a swift breath, Anurin held his arms up in a motion to pacify Brenton and Isrydia. First he smiled at Isrydia and Arlyn, "Indeed. It's great to see you two, too. Just look at you! How fast you've grown.. it's quite a proud moment for us, I'd say. It feels like just yesterday Arlyn was this large," Anurin used his two hands to show how small Arlyn had been when Anurin had first seen him, wounded by a Shade, "Never mind, come here you." rushing forward to give Isrydia a tight but gentle hug. He had watched her and Arlyn practice a few tricks on their own and admired their spirit - taking interest in how she seemed to have quite a keen interest in the stars. Releasing himself from the embrace, he smiled sadly and said, "Though I must say that this time I agree with Brenton - partly. I'm not asking you to do anything much - just acknowledge that the scales aren't tipped against him as much as you think. After all, it's much the same how you killed Grazael when under the influence of the evil Witches that he attacked you. Though at the same time, Brenton, your actions far outweigh Isrydia's action then and there. Especially when she had no choice but you had a choice to avoid any of that darkness. But none of that, lighten up now."
Vanilor stared down at Brenton, his massive eyes filled with furious inspection. The last time impression he had had of Brenton was not a very good one. Though he respected the fact that he should give the man a better chance. Coming out of the sky to land, wrapping himself repeatedly around the mountain next to them, Vanilor extended his neck so that his head was above them, blacking out much of the sun. "Well met Brenton. It is good to see you've rid yourself of that darkness. How have you been over the past few years?" he asked, showing that he wouldn't judge Brenton based on his past actions - he was giving Brenton a new page to write for himself.
Anurin said, slowly and sadly, "These ruins are what remains of a village.. I remember it. I'd not ever been here personally for too long but I remember there was an artifact of great power, though sinister in nature. I'm not sure what to say about the fact that we all showed up here at once." leaning closer to Isrydia he whispered, "Stay close. I'm actually kind of worried something might happen." his hand already hovering around Andlat's handle.
When you die, your world ends. The world may go on, but in your eyes, the world ends with you.

Faith sat at camp waiting for Silas to return from hunting. They had reached Du Welvarden the week before not finding the ruins until yesterday. Though Silas could not see them Faith was able to sense them the moment they came with in range. So many powerful minds in one place was hard to miss. Though she knew they probably meant her no harm Faith was till scared and suspicious. She had been trying her best to change but old habits clung fast. No matter whose mind she looked through she could not see where everyone was. When Faith tried everything became distorted and fuzzy almost as if there was a screen. After she had relayed this information to Silas and they both decided to pay the odd place a visit themselves. So now Faith waited, unsure of what she would find. Faith did not feel uneasy as everyone seemed to be. She felt something else, something pulsing from the ruins and pushing her away.

Walking through the forest of Du Welvarden Silas grabbed edible vegatation and obtained a string of hare. Shouldering the hare and setting the vegatation in his pack before heading back to Faith. On his walk back Silas was over thinking what Faith had told him about the minds that she had felt when they had made it here. Both of them had come here to find out about Faith's past but it seemed that they had got much more than they had bargained for. Whether friend or foe was still unclear but in all acuality they would more than likely be reasonable and if they where reasonable then they could be talked to. Having been traveling with Faith he could tell that there was something wrong with her her composure was very different she was with drawing again maybe not from him but definantly from some thing. Something was not right with this place and when they would get there Silas whould find out what it is.

Distractedly gazing out into the forest Faith jumped when Silas returned. She smiled seeing that it was only him. "I've been thinking, maybe its best that we head over now. I think we're rested enough and all this waiting is just stressing me out." saying this Faith got up. Grabbing her clack she went through the normal steps of concealing her identity. "With so many people here we should go to them while we're prepared, before they come to us." she added backing up her first point with more reason. "We could eat while we walk." she said hopefully. In reality she wanted nothing to do with the place. But getting what was bound to come over with quickly seemed like the best plan.
