Now that the Empire has been defeated by the Varden, Alagaesia is in need of a new ruler. This time, to stop one person having all the power in case they then go crazy, the Varden have decided that a Council will be formed. This grand council rules over all of Alagaesia while the Lords and Ladies rule individual provinces. Those in the major Council positions meet regularly to discuss the running of the country and will meet more often in times of need.
