Aimlessly, Lily chucked sticks into the river, watching as the inexorable flow dragged them down towards the pounding waterfall. It's as if I'm procrastinating something, but what even? I need to get food eventually, but what am I doing other than that? She'd asked herself that question many times recently. Why bother? It was all Kieran's fault, that's what it was. All her brother's fault. If he hadn't- No. I promised myself I wouldn't think about this anymore. Lily stood, picking up the mostly-empty pack that lay by the stone she'd been sitting on, and slung it over her shoulder. The elf strode over to the edge of the waterfall and began to climb down the slippery stones next to it. Sure, there was an easier way, but so what? She needed something to do; something to occupy herself with. If she fell, the fall wasn't so high. Eventually, Lily reached the bottom and sat down again. The spray from the waterfall cooled her face and beaded on her long, pale hair. Suddenly, she stiffened. Maybe I can't use magic, she thought, but I know when there's someone nearby, even if it's because all of the birds just stopped singing.

Faith walked through the woods focused in getting back to the river side. There had been a fallen tree further downstream that had made it hard for her to walk along its edge. That had lead to her taking a detour through the wood. So she walked making her way and listening to the forest around her both mentally and physically. Faith was surprised to find another persons mind nearby, and a powerful one too. Knowing her own barriers were up Faith didn't worry all too much, she knew who ever it was would not be able to sense her mental presence. So instead she continued pushing her way through the foliage to the river bank. Faith let the strangers emotions fill her mind as she neared hoping for some clue as too who they were. It was to no avail. Their emotions were confusing but it was all Faith had to work with, being that the strangers mind was so well protected. Finally pushing through she stopped dead in her tracks. In front of her was an elf, a tall female elf with bright blonde hair and skin oddly tan for someone of her kind. Faith watched the elf her eyes narrowing slightly. The elf wore a cloak like she did and Faith wondered what they had to hide. She had come a long way with learning to deal with other people but her tolerance for elves was still very low. She couldn't judge her age, it was always hard with elves to tell. And it didn't help that Faith couldn't pick anything up from the girl. Of all people why an elf Faith thought bitterly while still staring. She wasn't going to make the first move so she waited for the elf to talk. (I just realized how much they look the same. Lily probably has a bit darker hair and a bit paler skin though. And wow two telepaths, Lily is probs gonna be confused as to why Faith has no mind )

Lily remained sitting, the spray from the waterfall falling around her, She watched droplets form on her waterproof cloak, seeing in them a distorted reflection of someone standing behind her, standing close to a tree. I wonder how many people realize that you don't need magic for everything, she thought. It was obvious that this person was powerful, and in addition to that, must be guarding his or her mind very closely. Just what I need, another fight. Thanks, but I'd rather not be robbed... although I doubt you're a bandit. How come I can't sense your mind at all? Lilira closed off her mind even more, blanking out her thoughts and emotions. No one would be able to sense anything of her but a presence. "Who are you, and what do you want?" she asked neutrally, without bothering to turn. Nevertheless, Lily's hand was on her sword-hilt. Unless this person was trying to hurt her, she didn't think that person would stay very long.

Faith frowned not bothering to hide her distaste. Who does that elf think she is?! she thought indignantly getting more irritated by the moment. Thought she wished fervently to just leave, Faith had been planning to stop at the waterfall to wash and refill her water. With the elf there there was no way she was going to do to do either things. As of now all she wanted was the elf gone. The lack of interest in the elf's voice ticked her off and Faith decided not to give her a full answer. "It doesn't matter who I am and I was going to use these waters. Unless you are currently using them I would appreciate it if you left." She kept it short, sweet, and to the point not caring how ridiculous she sounded. That elf has no need to know anything about me. she thought still bitter. Yes it was ignorant, but she wasn't in any mood to listen to reason.

Lily rose slowly, unconcerned and deliberate. She turned, cloak swirling, to face the person behind her. A girl... but she must be older than she looks, else she wouldn't be so good with her abilities. "I don't have to leave for you to use the water," Lily replied, her eyes narrowed and frosty. Tell me again, why would I leave for someone as rude as you? Lily stared at her visitor for another while, trying to read something out of her eyes and expression. Lilira's eyes lost their icy hue and she asked, "You don't like me much, do you? Why is that? You've known me for all of two minutes." When the girl didn't answer immediately, Lily scooped up her bag, turned and climbed partway up the rocks by the waterfall and sat on a ledge higher and out of the way. "There. Now I'm not in your way." Even though she was somewhat annoyed at the girl's unnecessarily rude behavior, Lily was enjoying having something interesting to do for the first time in awhile. Sometimes I wish I was more comfortable around people, or at least had a friend... but there's no way. I have too many secrets. I can't trust anyone, and no one can trust me. Still. This girl? Really? Who does she think she is? Then Lily had started to ignore the elf when another through hit her. Silly me. I don't need to get food. I have fishing line in my pack.

When Lily turned to face Faith she saw the elf' expression and it was unreadable. Her eyes followed Lily as she climbed higher up the waterfall. It was surprising but she saw the elf's eyes soften as she examined her. She didn't like being scrutinized by the strange elf but at least she was acting somewhat reasonable, for that Faith decided to answer some of what Lily's questions. She ignored the first question knowing her answer to the second would answer it "It's because you're and elf," pausing she wondered how to continue her answer without giving much away "Ive been wronged before by elves and i'd rather not let that be the case again." Faith decided that was a good enough, she hoped that the elf was smart enough to understand that Faith was uncomfortable around her. Thats why she didn't want her around when she used the water. She didn't want any elves around in general. Making sure her hood was still up she walked down to the waters edge and crouched. As Faith filled her bottles she pondered as to why she could access the elf's mind. That was another reason she was on edge, usually she could at least gouge peoples emotions but with Lily she could only sense her presence. It was useful knowing what people were thinking, yes it could be a curse but other times it saved her from danger. Once finished Faith stood and waited for Lily to respond.

Lily watched the girl silently, pondering the answer she'd been given as the girl filled her water bottles. I don't really know what to say to her, Lily thought. When the girl had finished and had stood up, Lily said, "I'm sorry about whatever it was that the elves did to you," Lily offered. "If it helps, I barely consider myself an elf- I've never really known any other elves. I was raised by werecats, to be honest." She sighed, tucking her knees up to put her feet on the ledge as well, and cupped her chin in her hand. "Do you mind if I come down? It's getting a little bit uncomfortable sitting up here, and I don't like looking down at people." The girl's answer repeated itself in Lily's mind again. 'I've been wronged before by elves and 'd rather not let that be the case again.' How alike are we? Lily wondered. I wish I knew more about you. I want that almost enough to ask... but I know that if we really are alike, you wouldn't take well to my asking. And... I'd never question your distrust of strange elves. I guess we're alike and not in that way. I don't hate him for what he did, unlike what you would. But I will never trust anyone that much ever again.
