Vysaeri’s face is angular yet handsome, with a strong jawline, high cheekbones, and gorgeous hazel eyes, he is sure to stand out in a crowd. His skin is quite pale and free of blemishes for the most part, while his ears are long and pointed as one would expect of an elf. His thick, wavy black hair is kept long and flowing, and Vysaeri often leaves it out although he is known to tie it back into a braid to get it out of the way and make it more manageable. A jagged scar cuts diagonally through his face which he received during the battle beneath Farthen Dûr, along with a less noticeable scar across his neck. Of course, Vysaeri could have easily healed these injuries with magic, but he wanted to keep them as a sign that he had fought valiantly and survived. He often wears black leather boots, pants, and various tunics or robes depending on how much he needs to be able to manoeuvre. Vysaeri tends to gravitate towards darker monochrome colours, along with blues, greens, and golds. Although Vysaeri was born female, one would not be able to tell unless they got beneath his belt and those opportunities are few and far between.
Personality: Wise, intelligent, inquisitive, logical, judicious, calculating, adaptable, impartial, ambitious, protective, valiant, honourable, resourceful, meticulous, assertive, confident, respectful, courteous, polite.
Ever since he was a young elf, Vysaeri has always been quite wise and knowledgeable. Vysaeri is quite helpful at giving advice or helping those in need, he has a lot of life experience and wisdom, and he quite enjoys sharing his knowledge with others or helping someone deal with difficult emotions. Vysaeri is quite intelligent, as most elves generally are, and he is both academic and knowledgeable about the world. He loves learning and has a thirst for knowledge; he enjoys learning new things, particularly if the topic in question is unfamiliar. Logical and rational, Vysaeri looks at every situation with care, examining all variables before making a decision. He always thinks things through and would never rush into a situation without first thinking quite deeply. Vysaeri is quite calculating in nature, he is very deliberate in his actions and movements, he navigates social situations with tact and is always quite careful about his wording. Vysaeri is fairly adaptable, with his quick mind and ability to reason, he is quite capable of making decisions quickly and adapting to new situations, although he would much rather take his time. Vysaeri is neither optimistic or pessimistic, and his view of the world is one of logic and reason. Yes, bad things happen, but it is not healthy to only expect the worst outcome. He is quite impartial, and he tends to remain neutral on certain topics until he has had had time to examine the situation and come to the best possible conclusion.
Vysaeri has always been fairly ambitious in nature, he has a drive to him that one would expect of his kind, and he will stop at nothing until his task has been completed. Protective and honourable, Vysaeri will often put himself in danger in order to protect someone else. Vysaeri is quite valiant and brave, it takes a lot to really frighten him, and it helps that he is so old and has a lot of life experience under his wings. He faces everything with his head held high and is quite capable of handling anything that life might throw his way. Although he is a scholar and researcher, Vysaeri is quite capable of holding his own in a fight, using his magical abilities to his advantage. Honourable and noble, Vysaeri has a fairly sound moral code and always strives to do the right thing, and he will not stand idly by when people are suffering at the hands of another. As expected of someone so intelligent, Vysaeri is quite resourceful, he is a problem solver and if given time to think he can usually come up with a viable solution. Even if time is of the essence, his quick mind and resourceful nature aid him in solving problems as quickly and efficiently as possible. Vysaeri is fairly meticulous, he keeps his quarters quite neat and tidy, and everything has its place. He is careful in both his mannerisms and how he keeps his belongings; he can become quite annoyed if someone touches his things or moves them without permission.
Assertive and confident, Vysaeri holds his head high and is never afraid of speaking his mind, however he is always respectful and courteous. He seldom feels anxious, and goes into new situations with his head tall and ready to learn as much as he can. Of course, Vysaeri does feel anxious from time to time, but these moments are few and far between. Vysaeri is quite aware that he is rather beautiful, although he tries to not let it get to his head, but he does like the attention it gives him, particularly from humans. Vysaeri is also very aware that he, as an elf, is ranked higher than humans in every way, but he tries his best to not treat them as lesser beings. Vysaeri is always respectful and courteous when interacting with humans; he quite enjoys living amongst them and learning everything that he can. Even after all this time, humans still manage to surprise him with their strange antics, and he just finds them quite fascinating. Vysaeri has always been quite polite, and he is respectful towards all beings no matter their rank. He has a special place in his heart for humans, and he is quite eager to see what they will accomplish next. Family:
Cadeyrn | Father | Elf | Alive (+305)
Neyitari | Mother | Elf | Alive (+241)
Eivor | Ex-Boyfriend | Human | Deceased (-108)
History:
Vysaeri was born to loving elven parents Cadeyrn and Neyitari, however, he was born female, and from a young age it was evident that he was not comfortable with being as such. As he grew older, he found himself becoming more uncomfortable with how his body was developing into that of a young woman, so with the help of his parents, he changed his form to closer match that of a young man, with a flat chest and a more masculine build. They even managed to use magic in order to change his ovaries into internal testes which was a simple enough spell. Gender was more fluid amongst elven kind, and using magic to change his body was certainly not unusual, and it would not be the last time that Vysaeri used this technique on himself but for now it was more than enough. As with most elves, Vysaeri had a thirst for knowledge and he loved learned about magic and the world, however he felt stuck in Ellesméra and he wanted nothing more than to explore Alagaësia and be amongst humans who fascinated him. They were so different to elves, and it was quite commendable how they were able to achieve so much with such short lifespans.
When Vysaeri was in his 70s, his parents finally decided that he was mature enough to venture out into the world, provided that he blended in with humans by using magic. He used a spell to make his ears rounded, facial hair, and gave himself a more rugged, humanlike appearance. For several decades, Vysaeri travelled, living amongst the humans and learning everything that he could about them. It was a lonely existence, especially since he was effectively lying to every friend that he met about his true identity as an elf, but it was a sacrifice that he needed to make. During his travels, Vysaeri found himself growing close to a human, a young blacksmith by the name of Eivor who had the most beautiful blue eyes that Vysaeri had ever seen. Eivor lived and worked in Teirm, and Vysaeri decided to stay in the city to get to know him and take a break from the difficulties of travel. With time, Vysaeri found himself falling in love with Eivor, and he was delighted to learn that the young man felt the same way about him. Eivor expressed his affection by forging a beautiful longsword for Vysaeri, and while he preferred magic, he was quite good at wielding a sword and he adored the gift.
As things started to become more serious, Vysaeri confessed that he was an elf and showed Eivor who he truly was. At first Eivor was quite upset and he felt lied to, but after talking it through, the young blacksmith understood why Vysaeri had hidden his true identity as it had been for his own safety. Elves seldom left the forests of Du Weldenvarden and he did not wish to draw attention to himself especially considering how dangerous the roads could be with Galbatorix’s forces. Now that everything was out in the open, Vysaeri and Eivor continued their relationship, although they kept it a secret as same sex couples were few and far between. After discussing it at length, they decided that they would join the Varden and fight to free Alagaesia from tyranny. Although Eivor was mortal, he was an exceptional swordsman as one would expect of a blacksmith, and coupled with Vysaeri’s skills as a magic user and fighter, they were sure to succeed. In the dark of night, the pair left Teirm and started heading towards Farthen Dûr. However, on the roads they were attacked by a group of Galbatorix’s soldiers, and although he fought valiantly, Eivor was wounded.
Once the soldiers had been killed, Vysaeri tended to Eivor’s wounds with magic and the young man survived, but if he had not been there then the young man would have succumbed to his wounds. Eventually, Vysaeri and Eivor made his way to the Varden and joined their ranks. Vysaeri fought bravely against the urgals during their attack on Farthen Dûr, however, his face and neck were cut with a jagged knife. Of course, Vysaeri could have healed the wounds with magic, but since this was his first proper battle, he wanted to allow his injuries to heal naturally, wearing his scars with pride. Once the battle was won, however, Vysaeri could not find Eivor, and it was only after the bodies of the dead had been collected did, he find him again. It was too late, Eivor had been killed and there was nothing that Vysaeri could do to bring him back without delving into forbidden necromancy. In that moment, Vysaeri didn’t care about the cuts to his face and neck, he felt such a surmountable grief that it took some time for him to feel like himself again.
Naturally, Vysaeri was in awe of Saphira and her prowess on the battlefield, and Vysaeri longed to bond to a dragon of his own, but he doubted that it would ever happen. Dragons were beautiful and fascinating creatures, and although he would likely never bond to one himself, Vysaeri still clung to the hope that perhaps one day a dragon would choose him. He felt like he was more than worthy enough for one, but of course, it was out of his control. An elf could dream, however, and it was something that Vysaeri would certainly work towards especially since Eragon uncovered a cache of dragon eggs. In his opinion it was only a matter of time.
Anything extra: His magic is teal green (think necromancy spells and the shadow-cursed lands from Baldur’s Gate 3).
