Full Name: Lady Saraiyu Balitang (Personality, family and history are based mostly on the character in the novel Trickster's Choice and Trickster's Queen by Tamora Pierce)
Other name: Sarai
Race:: Human
Side: Empire (Please read her history.)
Birthplace: Teirm
Age: 21 years old
Gender: Female
Birthday: October
Eyes: Sarai's eyes are sapphire blue. They shine with mischief. They are somewhat angled like a cat's, giving her a very feline appearance that fits her battlestyle and personality.
Hair: Her hair is long, reaching to her waist. It is light brown-blonde, sleek and well-kept.
Weight: She is very slim. Sarai weighs about 110-120 pounds, but she never checks, for she considers vanity a weakness.
Height: She is about five foot six inches tall.
Magic User: Yes. She was taught some simple magic because of her noble blood.
Clothing: She wears the clothes of a nobleman's daughter. Sarai owns a lot of jewelry which she received from hopeful young nobles while she was living at home. When she is on missions or practicing with her weapons, she wears a simple black one-piece tunic with silver lining.
Preferred Weapon(s): Sarai mostly uses two swords. They are silver-hilted, one with a dark violet gem, the other with a sapphire gem. Those are the colours that represent Sarai and Sarugani, for Sarai's eyes are sapphire blue and Sarugani's are violet-coloured. However, Saraiyu also carries an elven bow and a quiver of arrows.
Personality: Saraiyu is very mischievious and adventurous. She is a very passionate young woman and loves to have fun, but because of her past, she sometimes has trouble showing her true feelings.
Sarai can also be sly and quick-witted. She isn't exactly book-smart, but she is logical and often says what she means. If Sarai doesn't like someone, she tells them so.
Sarai hates it when people try to pamper her. She doesn't like wearing formal dresses and jewelry.
Likes/Dislikes: Sarai loves planning and having adventures. She likes playing pranks on her parents and her friends.
The young noblewoman loves riding and archery, and loves swordfighting. In short, she loves the ways of a warrior. She hates being pampered and she dislikes the boys who follow her around because of her good looks and noble blood, for she thinks it's a waste of her time.
Family: Saraiyu's foster father is a nobleman. He is a second cousin to the king, and therefore was given a village to govern. Her foster mother is a good duchess. She takes care of the household's finances and brings up the children to be good and smart and proper, but she is very boring and un passionate, and never loved Sarai even a bit. She has two foster sisters and a foster brother, all of whom hate her because of her beauty and talents, and who often pick on her because she doesn't have her own family. They also use her temper to their advantage, making her blow up at them at all the worse moments.
Sarai's real family were secret elf-friends. Sarai's foster family knew and kept the secret. All the while, the families were passing information back and forth for the benefit of the elves and the Varden. The Balitangs were nobles also, and therefore her father and her foster father were great friends. Her real father, Mequen, was the son of Brom, but not a dragon rider.
Brief History: Sarai's father was going to Du Weldenvarden to find his father.. While Mequen son of Brom was in Du Weldenvarden, Sarai was born. Her mother died in childbirth. A while later, Galbatorix found out that his suspected servant, the Duke Balitang, was actually serving the Varden. The king killed Mequen Balitang when he was on his way home to get to his daughter. However, elves travelling close to Teirm were ordered to find Sarai, and they did. They brought her back to Du Weldenvarden as a baby, and she lived there until she was 20. Then her dragon hatched, and she named her silver-scaled partner Sarugani, but called her Mist in private.
After Sarugani hatched for her, the elves tried to make a rider out of her. Sarai was never asked whether she wanted to change the world or if she wanted to risk her life in more battles than her parents had seen together. She was told she had to help the Varden, and so she grew scared. After blindfolding her, the elves led her out of Du Weldenvarden to take her to the Varden. However, when they arrived there she and Sarugani fled back to the Empire to her foster family. Galbatorix soon found out and brought her to the castle. He nourished her skills and talents and promised to help her remember her past. He wove a dream about Sarai until she really believed everything he said. When Galbatorix told her of his plans to bring the dragons and the Dragon Riders back, she agreed to serving him and has been trained as a Rider. Now, at 21, she is a full-fledged Rider, serving Galbatorix.
Anything extra: Not really. I really like the site, though! You'll have to forgive me... I read the books quite a few months ago, so I've forgotten a few things.
