DAMAR_;; It was deathly quiet on the vast desert, the nothingness spreading out into oblivion. Damar sat next to a smoldering ash heap, the remains of what had been a fire, before he had caught his boot heel in it and had been forced to dump sand onto his boot and the fire ring. That was a new one, as far as he could remember, the only other thing he had caught on fire was his bedroll, and the fire had only burned off a few inches before he had put it out.
So there he sat, dutifully trying to fix his boot heel, out in the middle of the Hadarac desert. A wolf howled from a long way off, breaking the silence. The only other sound seemed to be the wind, which occasionally gusted, causing dust and sand to pummel into his face. All in all, a lovely night. So far, at least.
His attention shifted to the south, where far off in the distance, he could see the burning lights of Surda. At least he was almost there. Granted, he didn't know exactly what he was hoping to find in Surda. Fact was, however, that he was at least doing something, or going somewhere, which, in his mind, made it all worth it.
He glanced back down at his half-gone boot heel, vaguely wondering how much a new pair of boots could possible cost him. Un able to think of a viable answer, he muttered to himself and lay down on a blanket, next to the smoldering ashes, and stared up into the dark sky, hands behind his head.
The twinkling spots of lights did no good in making him peaceful. What ever fool said that nature had a calming effect had obviously never laid in the Hadarac Desert and wondered where his next meal would be coming from.
Ah yes. Life just didn't get better than this.

Sand swept up from the ground dangerously. Not as powerful as a storm, it was enough to bury smaller creatures around them. The large green dragon descended quickly, landing roughly against the dark sand. A human rolled off the dragon quickly, landing hard in the sand and breathing heavily. He gripped his shoulder hard, a deep wound turning the light sand into a dark mud of red. Grimacing, his face tightened and green magic moved across the wound, healing it quickly. Pulling away his hand, it glistened with blood and a deep scar shone where his wound was.
Exhausted, Pike crawled towards the river, his body creating a path in the sand. Forest lifted his body slowly, following Pike's lead and reaching his head into the water faster than the rider. He drank deeply, large gulps of water moving down his throat as gallons of water disappeared from the river. Meeting the rim of the river, Pike dunked nearly his entire body into the water, letting himself soak in it for a good minute before surfacing.
"AH!" Pike shouted happily, flinging his head into the air and sprinkling water everywhere. "Thank god... we're alive..."
Yes, though barely... Forest said, flapping his wings and revealing the shallow cuts on his body. Pike stood slowly, moving towards the wounds and touching them gently. They closed slowly, only healing slightly but enough to keep it from being permanent. What do we do now? Our mission was a failure and we lost three good companions.
"We go back," Pike said, looking over the horizon. "Not much else we can do..."

Kaala was getting seriously annoyed at her companions suddenly disappearing. A few days after Verin, Rhaxta, and Arkantos' disappearance she found her and Mirror sweeping low over the Hadrac Desert, the setting sun glistening over Mirror's scales.
"I just don't see why everyone has to suddenly charge off, leaving us behind." She grumbled, pulling several strands of hair out of her face.
"Perhaps we should have followed them through." Mirror had been agitated, especially since the loss of the young dragon, Caranthor. "I don't see why we couldn't..." Kaala simply shook her head and leaned further down in the saddle, practically flush against Mirror's back.
"I don't think I could've stood the tension anymore. In anycase, I have the information I need for the Varden. We have visual conformation that there is another rider. The council will have to send another out to track them down. I don't babysit Humans and Half-elves." She stopped when the site of green scales flashing in the sun caught her eye. She half grinned at the site of a familiar face. The two of them quickly agreed to land and did so near Pike and Forest. Kaala slid gracefully out of her saddle. "Pike! Forest!" She called, approaching the duo.

DAMAR_;; An explosion boomed across the sand, gusting sharply against a large rock that served as Damar's shelter. He bolted upright, glancing around wildly for what could have caused the booming noise. His gaze settled on a dragon not far off.
A dragon! Intruigued, he crept closer, positioning himself several meters from the dragon's left. IT was then, that he noticed a human. He looked a bit beat up. Damar watched skeptically as the human dragged himself along the sand to the river, wondering briefly why hid dragon didn't help him. At the rider's exclamation, he rolled his eyes. How corny could you possibly get?
He gaze caught the other dragon seconds before it landed, blasting him with sand, for the second time. He dove into a crevice under the rock, brushing sand out of his eyelashes. He peered cautiously around, before examining the most recent arrivals. He wondered how long it would take them to discover his little camp. He grimaced, remembering briefly that he had forgotten to bring his sword along with him. What a lovely pickle.
Quietly, so as not to attract unneeded attention, he snuck back around the rock, and quietly began to gather up his things.

Pike ran his hands through the sand, letting it shift through his hands slowly. It was nice to relax after such a busy month. He looked at the sand curiously, diving his hand into the sand again and pulling it out. "Fascinating, isn't it?" Pike asked, looking down at his hand and rubbing his other hand against it. "How something so broken down and ugly can turn into a beauty like glass?"
Holding his hand up, he looked at it in the air. "What do you think? Maybe I can harden glass enough to turn it into a full blown weapon..."
I think you're better off with steel, Forest said, exhaling deep and taking another drink from the river. What are you going to do if you have to fight hand to hand? Fight glass jaw against glass hands?
"I suppose you're right..." Pike said, opening and closing his hands. Hearing the loud scream of his and Forest's name, Pike dived his hand into the sand, pulling it out quickly as a glass blade appeared over his hand. It was jagged and messy, but could at least do some damage, though hardly anything against steel. Seeing the familiar face, his hands heated even further, warping the glass until it slid off his hands. "Kaala?" Pike asked, looking towards her. "Mirror? What brings you to this dry, dead land?"

Elina glanced behind her, Surda was already far away. She had been wandering in the Hardarac for a day or so now, and she was already bored of the sand and sparse outlets of vegetation - hard and coarse. A distant twinkling told her that there was an oasis nearby. There was something.. two large somethings there. A green dragon, and another, she couldn´t see its color, it was in the sun, and she had to raise her hand to her eyes because it was impossible to see.
Her large horse snickered nervously, dislodging the sand on Elina´s clothes and blowing it into her eyes. She was loath to approach the dragons, but she needed water. Her mind was still reeling from the revelation that she was not as heartless as she had once thought. She no longer cared for Galbatorix or his strict regime of death and torture. She worried for her brother, but she knew he would be alright.. The harsh sun had dried the crusty salt of her tears to her face, and when she moved her face to squint into the sun, it sprinkled down her face. Fresh tears rolled down her face as she thought of Ardocc. His beautiful face. She decided she would scry him when they got to the oasis. She decided to jump onto the horse, to be at the oasis quicker.
Her hair billowed behind her, and she felt alive again as the wind brushed soothed her aching muscles, and relieved the heat. She thought of the dragons. There was only three types of people with a dragon, The varden; they probably would wonder who she was. The empire; would recognise her, and betray her to Galbatorix, but she could escape through the hadarac again, and then there were the neutrals; who worked for neither side, and probably wouldnt care, and give her a wide berth.
She decided she could risk the oasis. It would be better to have water, and the horse was close to foundering, it needed a drink. They would rest there for the night, and then move on.

"I could ask the same of you, Pike." She replied with a friendly smile. "It appears that I have misfortune with traveling companions as of late. Every time I travel with them, I seem to get left behind as they rush off to get themselves killed." Mirror snorted in amusement at her words.
"Perhaps you should keep a better eye on your targets. We'll have to go after him sooner or later, not to mention the youngling."
Her grimace fell though as she caught sight of someone on the dunes. "We have company coming it appears." She told him, pointing in the general direction of Surda. She lightly walked to Mirror's saddle and drew her rapiers. It was about time to get them replaced she noted before steeling herself.

She saw the owner of one of the dragons drawing two pointy-looking weapons. Which was a stupid thing to think, as most weapons were pointy.. Or they would be quite ineffective. Which led her to thinking about what to do.
There were two dragons with riders, and they would be strong magicians. She could hold off one of the riders, without their dragons. They appeared to be friendly with each other too, which couldn't be good for her. They would be suspicious of a lone rider.
Ardocc.. Her thoughts were wandering again. She smiled grimly. She took her sword from its scabbard, and held it up above her head, in what she hoped was a placating gesture and didn't look like... She couldn't help thinking that if Ardocc was with her now, he would know how to stop them... Ardocc.
She was almost there, the horse slowed and skittered nervously at the sight of the large dragons. She muttered soothing words, but never took her eyes from the two riders.
She sighed and stopped before them. Dismounting, she slowly lowered her sword. 'I just need to refill my canteen. May i pass?'

(Forgot about this since Damar vanished >>)
"We're here on a stop from a mission," Pike said, looking at Forest. "A failure of a mission, but a mission."
Seeing Kaala draw her weapons, he followed in turn. Pulling in water from the river, it formed a bo, hardening to a thick ice. They watched the stranger approach slowly, horse in tow. She is no enemy I know of, thought Pike to Kaala. "Not that I trust the words of man, but who do you call your lord?"
(SHORTY!)
