Full Name: Galbatorix
Other name: Ushnark the Mighty
Race: Human rider
Side: Empire
Birthplace: Uru baen
Age: 176
Gender: Male
Birthday: Unknown
Eyes: Black
Hair: Bald, but with facial hair
Weight: Around 200 pounds
Height: 6’5 feet
Magic User: Yes
Clothing: He usually wears decorated black clothing, with chain mail and some armor over it.
Preferred Weapon(s): A magic blade that is larger and heavier than most people can carry, and has a spirit sealed inside it and can do long-distance strikes. It also absorbs the energy of anyone struck by it. He also has a dark green rider’s sword that hasn’t been used since he took over Uru baen.
Personality: Galbatorix is famous for being insane and cruel, but while he isn’t hopping mad he can be quite sadistic. Cruelty for its own sake doesn’t quite appeal to him as much as wanton destruction does, but he has the patience to wait before unleashing certain doom. He is very straightforward and practical, usually preferring the fastest and easiest method for anything. Galbatorix has nothing against creativity, but usually leaves that to the (always bored but never idle) mages. He is quite flexible and sometimes just a little impulsive, especially when nothing is at risk. He can be charismatic when it suits him, but he loses his mind whenever he gets angry. When he has lost his mind, it takes him days to calm down again, but he usually regrets his actions once he does. Most people would never find out, but the king is actually quite a packrat. The things he keeps are quite disturbing, however.
He can be quite friendly and conversational when in the right mood, and usually doesn’t take offence then and there. However, once the mood leaves him, chances are he’ll have the offender thrown (nearly naked and completely unarmed) into the scorpion pit. If he is approached by some low-born peasant upstart, he’d simply allow the mages to take them apart and use them in their experiments. He doesn’t appreciate defiance, but can tolerate it to a certain (small) extent. Past that, they get thrown while bound, gagged and armed with scorpion bait, into the pit. When he's feeling particularly merciful, he might give them a knife and watch while they try climbing all twenty-five feet of scorpion-infested hole.
Likes: He likes power, his ‘puppets’, Shruikan, and being all-powerful. He doesn’t mind the Varden’s existence, especially since they give some much-needed excitement after having ruled virtually unopposed for years. Unfortunately, they have been growing rather powerful as of late and might need to be destroyed soon.
He loves spicy meat dishes, curry and some kinds of seafood, especially shrimp.
Dislikes: He doesn’t like being talked about behind his back, a lack of control, history books, urgals, stupid people and the elder riders from a long time ago.
Family: Parents unknown, adopted daughter Mithiel, adopted son Fadriendel. He sometimes would spoil his 'children' quite a bit.
Brief History: He became a rider at a young age and because he was exceptionally talented, he moved up the ranks very quickly. Some of the older elven riders viewed him as a threat, while others believed that he showed great promise. While he was still young and thingyy him and some friends entered urgal territory under the false belief that their new power would protect them. He was the only one that survived, but the loss of his dragon very nearly drove him to insanity. He managed to make it back after having gotten lost for months in urgal territory, and passed out from hunger and fatigue in a village. The villagers helped him and when they saw the mark on his palm they contacted the riders. He demanded another dragon, but the elders saw the madness growing in him and refused. Their refusal pushed him over the edge after a vicious bout of screaming and cursing he was banned from the rider’s base. He still stayed close by, waiting for a chance to get his revenge.
Coincidentally he met Morzan, an impressionable young rider who was also the younger brother of a friend he lost to the urgals. Galbatorix enlisted Morzan’s help to steal a newly-hatched dragon from its rider, killing the rider in the process. When the dragon, Shruikan, was fully grown Galbatorix and Morzan stormed the rider’s stronghold and killed most of them. Twelve other riders joined him to become the Thirteen Forsworn, and he named himself King of Alagesia. He destroyed almost all the dragons and left only three dragon eggs (or so he thought). One of which was stolen by the Varden and hatched for Eragon, another hatched for Morzan’s son Murtagh and the last is still in safe keeping.
Galbatorix always believed that he owed Morzan something, and repaid his debt by not only leaving Murtagh alive after his defection but also giving him one of the three dragon eggs. While he considers the debt repaid he is still more tolerant of Murtagh’s actions that he ought to be.
Anything Extra: He has been getting more and more powerful since the downfall of the riders, though not many know why. He is also quite bored, with no one to talk to and not much reason to leave his castle.
Shruikan is his constant companion, and hardly ever leaves his side. He usually humors Shruikan’s odd habits and cynicism, although he forbids his dragon from contacting anyone other than his riders, their dragons or any high-ranked, magic-using officer in his army. While Shruikan doesn’t always approve of his rider’s actions, he usually doesn’t say anything or disobey him. And because he was taken from his real rider at such an early age, he cannot imagine any other life. It doesn’t stop him from complaining, though.
((Someone has to, I'll probably give him up if someone else is willing . . . Is Fadriendel supposed to be something like his son? I skimmed over the profile but didn't see anything.))
