Kelran shrugged, "I dont know. Im a fighter, thats true, but a fighter knows when not to fight. If the king is as strong as they say, maybe if there were ten of me could I fight him, and maybe not even then. Its true, I want to rid Alagesia of the stain of darkness that is him, but I dont want to throw my life away." he mentally sighed as well as aloud, "There are somethings I simply prefer not to entangle myself in."

Polean actually laughed. "Think you that you fight him alone will? No. I fight him alone not. Deaf even I am, but see rumors I do. The Surdans have some secret hiding they are. Rumors I hear of riders. They never say what ride they, but think not horses me. Armies of the empire moving are. I see can that crazy king worried is. Surda army smaller is, but attack still. Win, I don't know. Thoughts of soldiers I see always about Surda. What think they exact, don't know I.

Tirar knew of the Riders. They had to make their visit to Ellesmera and make their presence known to the elves. They and their grand dragons.
He made no comment. He was again in a thoughtfull mood. If it were the king against all of the Riders of the Varden, would it be enough? Both were strong, according to rumor and stories, but who was stronger? How many lives would be lost in the cleansing of Alagesia? He had no idea, but he neither wanted his life taken, nor take lives.

Polean looked at her traveling companion, but said nothing, sensing that he was still thinking. After a little while, she said, "Require you go I not, but best choice what?
If die, I want difference make, instead of idle, watching crazy king get his way."
They walked for a little more, then Polean spotted fresh deer tracks crossing the path. She knelt down and examined the tracks. It had been a while since she had hunted and her stored food was getting low. "Need get food I. Stay you? or go? or come with you?" She strung her bow and held it ready, though she did not grab an arrow yet.

Kelran, raised the way he had been, was not a meat eater, "Go ahead. I'll meet you back here." he said. Not that he was particularly hungry anyway, he still thought it a good idea to get something to eat. He was sure there was something nearby that was edible, and help distract him from the pain the deer would soon be feeling, and the suffing of a life.
