This place is filled with death, Death Talker, you may go deaf here, a voice whispered, in Dae's ear. Dae just shook her head. It had been several years since she had set foot in Dras-Leona. But She had been sent by the King to make sure that everything was running smoothly in the city, especially since he had sent the Green Rider a few months ago to cleanse the city of the poor and weak of mind. But the sorceress could already tell that new poor had filled their place. But the spirits of those who were killed still lingered around.
The voice that spoke to Dae was the main spirit that lingered around her. It went by the name of Berrin, or that what Dae called it. Its energy was very dark, sinister but Dae found it to be the most knowledgeable. It was the one that warned her about Adam's death, and she trusted it above all else. Many of the spirits that came to her would often linger and fade of back to their world, but Berrin always remained like a constant companion. She had begun to rely on its presence. It was almost comforting to her.
Dras-Leona filled Dae with such sad memories but it also filled her with such vigor being so close to where her power emerged. She was pretty sure she had killed everyone who could link her back to breaking her oath as a priestess by bedding a man. The only one who remembered was her old mistress, but she was ill now. Very ill. Dae was very sure that one of the spirits was responsible for it. The old priestess had lost too much of her strength to old age that she could no longer control the spirits she summoned, and it had begun to make her sick.
The Death Talker roamed the streets getting odd looks from the people around her. They no doubt heard the whispering of the pirits in the back of their mind too. Everyone was crazy in Dras-Leona. She found that a prime example was of it's citizen's insainty was Zane, the Empire's Rider. She was a nut. Driven made by nlood and murder. But Dae knew that people like her were born crazy. But people like Dae were made crazy.
I'll tell you a secret, which one's your good ear? Humans are made up of water and fear. There was a pause before Berrin continued, I sense danger around you, and hell's high fires. Perhaps you should go out and buy some water. Then there was the spirits spine tingling laugh, then empty acrid silence in Dae's head. The sorceress bowed her head and continued walking, her face hidden by her hood.
"I wish you'd stop talking in rhyme," she muttered under her breath.
