Personality: Mariya has a very unique personality, she can get very angry when you offend her and she doesn't appreciate it when you call her a lady or if you tell her it's proper for her t wear a dress. But most of the time she is calm due to meditating in private, also she can be a good-for-nothing thief. She is also caring for the fact that she wasn't going to let Shadow die. Silver tongue.

Brief History: Mariya grew up in Uru'bean in noble society with her mother, her father, and her brother, for most of her life and after she found her parents dead on the floor with daggers in their hearts and her brother missing. She's been stealing things for her own survival for she is saving the money she steals for a 'rainy day'. She usually lived in the streets or in the stables of someone's home.
One day the sword smith let his door open and Mariya stole a sword from his shop later that night. She goes from town to town in search of her missing brother and along the way she'll do almost anything to earn money. So far she had no luck maybe a few hints here and there. She hasn't given up yet. At the same time she's trying to find who killed her parents.
She had no luck here as well. Mariya has thought so many times about giving up, but then she looks at the dragon pendant her mother gave her that has the inscription 'never give up without a fight' in the ancient language(her mom taught her some but only to speak in it not to do any spells) she never learned how her mother got it or how she new the ancient language for she died before she had the chance to ask, supposedly her mother was magician but hid the fact that she was so the empire wouldn't find out. On her way to Surda Mariya found a black wolf pup abandoned in the woods near Melian after waiting for it's mother to find it she took with her and named it Shadow. Shadow followed her ever since thinking Mariya as his own mother. She eventually made it to Surda with Shadow and found her way to the Varden's war-camp.
When she got there she was caught and interrogated and convinced Nasuda that she could help in battle such as stealing plans from the enemy. All the while Mariya is training Shadow to help her out. She chows him in the best way she can how he can distract someone while she steal's something from there tent, and if he gets it right Mariya gives him a piece of jerky.
