Zander smiles as the contest starts. The contest will be three days long. Five courses per day. Each course will have three targets, set at 100 feet inervals beginning with 50 feet. At the end of the third day, the judge will decide the winner. The judge will be, the elven rider I spoke to earlier. Let the contest begin! Zander takes aim at the arrow he shot. When ready, two seconds later, Zander shot. The arrow split the other arrow in two. Zander smirks at the guy.

((GOOD GOD GUYS RUNNING AWAY FROM ME AFDSAS. Try and keep to some kind of oder guys- and if you interact with someone IC wait for them to respond before running off. x] It can get confusing! Oh, and Glaedran - try and keep your posts past tense please - he did, he walked, she talked etc. It is weird going from one to another when reading x]))
After being startled half to death by a small dragon colliding into the chair Amanes was sitting in, it took Nasuada a good few minutes to do anything but sit and stare dumbly, mouth hanging open. Elva just sat there with a smug, self-satisfied smile on her face and poured herself more wine. The guards dotted around the hall had immediately put their hands to their weapons as a man proclaiming himself the dragon's rider strode in, bow drawn. They, however, did not know how to react beyond that. They looked to Nasuada for her guidance but found no help whatsoever.
Another rider. It was almost too much to hope, yet the feeling of elation that eventually came through the confusion was soured once again by the knoweldge that it was still not enough. It would never be enough.
Composing herself, Nasuada tipped her head to the rider as he approached. ''You are of course welcome to this feast- if that is, you are here to join the Varden. Eragon is currently...on duty. If you are here to discuss the posibility of joining the Varden - I believe I am the most suitable person to speak to.'' Nasuada could not help but feel something aking to jealousy of Eragon's fame. When it undermined her leadership, that is.
Nasuada excused herself from the rider to confer with the nearest guard - she sent one off to find Arya and another to see if he could find Eragon - who should have been in the dungeons below Belatona. She turned back to see the rider had wandered off and was confering with someone nearby the roudy group she had noticed earlier. ''Another casualty of this party? We're doing well, Nasuada.'' sneered Elva.
~~
Rhaxta's pale eyebrows arched as she frowned gently, looking with concern toward her large companion, Gharznog. She was about to see if she could interject in some way and maybe move some of the group covertly away from the huge kull- saving both his pride and the neck of any and all around him. She decided against placing a comforting hand on his arm or anything to that effect - she didn't know much of the urgal culture and didn't want to offend or upset him anymore than he already was. He seemed to relax though as the party moved on and away and restrained their minds.
Rhaxta looked puzzled at Zilo's reply to her being human. She gave a soft shrug before she replied, ''Honestly, I was raised human, but from what I have seen some humans do, I wouldn't be upset to be excluded from the group. Such a narrow minded bunch - no offense to you, of course..Zilo. Hmm, a combination of all sounds like a good idea.''.
For a moment she looked perplexed when he said she should be used to complements, and she was about to say that it wasn't the case, having been on her own for more than a year and only just arriving at the Varden herself. He had moved off however, leaving Rhaxta looking after him, an eyebrow raised. There was something..unsettled in his stride.
When Zilo returned a few minutes later, carrying a lute, Rhaxta grinned from ear to ear - she had always loved music and with her solitude over the past year or so she had grown fed up of the tunes she knew and bored of her own voice.
''Ah! That is what has been missing..'' She clapped and laughed along to his speech and tune - until he dropped her name into it and she abruptly stopped and turned a bright red, almost visibly shrinking. So much for being inconspicious in this party. She did give an elated cheer when he had finished. Others had caught the beat as well, it seemed, as Will began to sing a cheerful chanty.
Rhaxta kept mostly to herself, as Gharznog had moved away leaving her alone on the perch. She looked down at the huge dinner plate the Kull had been using and gave a short snort of amusement. Anyone that saw her next to it - littered with bones and crumbs - might think she had devoured the lot. She played on this by stretching on her perch like a cat and looking very, very satisfied with herself.
As Will came back toward her she grinned at him. ''Nice tune, Will.'' As Will got enthralled in an indoor archery contest, Rhaxta thought it might be in her best interests to relocate. She let her feet lead her and she soon found herself out in the cold night air. Her green eyes automatically cast upward toward the stars and stayed there, as if transfixed. As relaxed as she had been for a long time, Rhaxta leaned against the wall of the keep and swayed, humming to herself.
~~
The guard approached Will and Zander - he was nervous, even though he had five men behind him - considering one was a rider, but he had his instructions. ''There are to be no weapons inside the keep! If you want to play games lads, please take it outside! Might put someones eye out with those things.'''

((I'll do it this way then, if that is alright Rhaxta.)) Zander I look at the guards and then the table of royalty. Shrugging, I put away the bow and turn to Will. Might want to go 'play' outside, little one. I sneer and then whip my sword out and dance backwards. Who's going to stop me if I say no? I can take all six of you. I glare defiantly at the guard. Hetrand I notice the commotion and then see the kid whip out a sword. Instantly, I go for Air, then think better of it. I watch the resulting fight.

After hearing the commotion the kull let out a grunt, guards had been summoned over the contest the youngsters had. And now one particularly arrogant one was challenging six guards. Gharznog laughed deep and throaty as he walked up behind the guards. "Dah youngling wants a fight? Gharznog will fight!" The large urgal was grinning from ear to ear showing his pointed yellow teeth. He had no weapons but seemed to relish the idea of combat even if the young rider looked nearly harmless with his twig of a sword.
He rolled back his shoulders and watched the boy for a moment, he didn't want this young upstart hurting the Varden. The kull did have to admit that Zander was brave... Or stupid after all it did take training to be a rider.
(By the way mate that is a rather confusing way of using first person, I suggest just using third person. It is easier and the most wildly use form for rp.)

((Please bear with me while I brush up on 3rd person. It's been awhile.)) Zander looked at Gharznog and put away his sword. He didn't care to fight a Kull or a group of soldiers. That is quite alright mighty Gharznog. Just having some fun. I didn't plan on hurting these fine soldiers. After all, the Varden needs all the help they can get. Speaking of which, I need to speak to Lady Nasuada about joining the Varden's cause. I happen to have contacts in Teirm and can help the fight go smooth. Zander looked at the guards again. He put his bow and sword against a table and walked over to Lady Nasuada. Smart choice, young one. I will be here to help you if needed. Let Lady Nasuada know that she can speak directly to me and I will respond in kind. Glaeran rumbled inside Zander's mind. Hetrand smiled at the interaction. The rider had challenged six of Nasuada's guards just to back out of the fight. That amused Quickblade greatly since he had thought the rider would be stronger than everyone here, excluding both Shadeslayers and the elves.

Will's face showed a disappointed expression, but inside he was happy. The Rider had a decent skill with the bow. Maybe I won't win this thing, he thought. When the guards had come up to him, Will was moving to unstring his bow and go outside. Then, Zander had challenged the guards. That was when he had taken out an arrow and laid it on his bowstring. Will was neither Varden nor and Empire spy, so he was prepared to defend a sideless Rider if needed. He was almost ready to shoot when Gharznog came up to the eight humans. He hesitated then because he liked Gharznog and didn't want to fight him. Relief flushed through him when Zander backed down. "Testy much?" he called after him. Will put the arrow away and put the bow back in its case on his back. He winked at the guards and went back over to Rhaxta and Gharznog. "Sorry about that. I didn't really want to hurt the nice fellows. I was just ready to protect a Rider, that's all," Will explained. He sighed. Why did Zander have to go and do something that stupid?

Zander smiled as he heard the remark from Will. Since he had gone to talk to Lady Nasuada, he ignored the remark. Leaving behind his weapons had been the best choice. If it came to it, Zander had Glaeran, who was small but feisty. Glaeran would fight to defend him if need be, plus Zander had the magic. Something didn't feel right to Zander as he arrived at the table. With a quick glance behind him, Zander saw Will put away an arrow and his bow. Glaeran, watch that man. He doesn't appear to be harmful, but better be careful. Zander smiled as Glaeran snorted. Lady Nasuada, Shining Brow, excuse my crude behavior. I do wish to speak with you, but only when Shadeslayer and Arya arrive. Zander lowered his voice and said, That man, I believe his name is Will, anyway, he seems to be hanging around with everyone. I think he might be an Empirical spy, someone sent by Galbatorix. His actions to defend a rider who he doesn't know, it isn't right. He should have tried to stop me like Gharznog did. Zander straightened his empty sword sheath and motioned with his hand. When both Shadeslayers arrive, would you meet me on the terrace?

Will glanced over at Zander. He was talking to Lady Nasuada and Elva. Then, he lowered his voice and continued speaking. A worm of suspicion and worry worked its way through his gut. He thought he say him glance over at him. That can't be good, Will thought. He may not be part of the Empire, but he wasn't apart of the Varden either. They could attack him if they felt threatened. Will quickly ran through his options. He could attack before they did. He could go into the crowd and hide. He could take someone hostage. Finally, he could leave the party with people thinking he was an enemy. He decided that the second was the best option. "Excuse me. I wish to go and meet other people," Will said hurriedly. He quickly blended into the wall, reached the edge of the crowd, and quickly joined the throng. I should be safe for now, Will thought.

Glaeran noticed the man disappear and sneak into the crowd. He jumped into the air and pounced on the man. Why do you turn tail and run, sly one? Do you know the threat to your life, is that why?
------------
Zander smiled and waved to the people. You have an enemy in your midst. He runs when noticed. Tries to save a Neutral Rider over defending his Host's guards. I name this traitor now, Will, the archer. Glaeran now has him pinned so he cannot run. Zander turned back to Nasuada.
------------
Hetrand slowly walked over to the dragon. A man was struggling below him. Hetrand noticed that his hand rested on Light.

Arya had found a quiet place in the corner where she could eat and was about to do so when the guard approached her. Stubbornly she pushed a grape into her mouth and chewed while watching the human guard approach, eyes drifting down every so slightly. A slight tilt of her eyebrows signalled she had seen him and he coughed, standing to attention in front of her and avoiding her gaze. Red crawled up his throat and over his jaw and cheeks. Arya's lips tweaked at the corners but she remained quiet until he had spoken. "Lady Nasauda wishes to see you, Shadeslayer," he gruffly spoke then turned away rather hurriedly to escape her intense green gaze. She had seen the new rider but she hadn't told Nasauda about Issie who waited outside. The girl was one of her best friends and Arya kept her friends very close and very safe. Issie probably didn't know the elven guards she had sent to keep an eye on her and the new diamond dragon. She would be amused to watch Tierar with Sapphira, the pair would probably get along well once they got over their jealousy of one another.
With a sigh she stood up and slipped through the crowd towards the woman her mother had agreed an alliance with. Arya frowned ever so slightly. The issue of her mother was something she'd rather not think about when a celebration was meant to be taking place. Silent as a shadow she appeared at the Queen of the Varden's shoulder. "You called?"

Will's eyes blazed with fury. They misunderstood him, and now a little dragon was giving him death threats? He didn't want to hurt anybody, but it looked like he would have to. He wasn't ready to be dead yet. He ran through his list of options again. Once he decided, he very slowly crept his hand down to his belt where he kept his large knife. It was necessary when attending feasts when situations like this might happen. "What's wrong, hatchling? Don't think you can kill me, huh? I would expect as much from such a tiny dragon. Can't even breath a spark, can you?" Will taunted. He had to keep the dragon distracted so he could reach his knife. Little baby dragon! You have claws as soft as butter! Teeth as dull as stones!" Will sneered. His hand was almost at the sheath. "I bet you want to kill me, huh? How can you? You might as well be a mouse!" Will continued. It may have not been the wisest approach, as the dragon was fully capable of tearing his chest open if it chose to, but it had succeeded. He pulled the knife from his belt and, using a very flexible wrist, had the tip at the dragon's stomach. The stomach is the most vulnerable part of a dragon, especially when it's as young as this one, Will reminded himself. He was prepared to plunge the knife into the dragon whose Rider he would have protected. The irony.

(( Sorry for the next post ))
Glaeran's eyes blazed fiercely at the taunts. When the knife touched his stomach, Glaeran growled. Young One, the spy has a knife against my stomach. I can kill him before he strikes. Should I protect you? Glaeran said to Zander after severing the connection with Will.
------------
Zander's eyes widened at Arya's approach. Then Glaeran called for help. Instantly, Zander ripped the knife out of Will's hand and moved Glaeran. (Mind, don't know the right wording) Now he tries to kill my dragon. Zander cried angrily.

Will rolled over. They made a mistake. A mistake so that he could get away. He ran for the window. If he could make it, he could get away from this accursed city. He had gotten a bad omen from a traveling witch in his own adventures. Why did she have to be right?, he thought. A guard stepped in his way. Will took an arrow from his quiver and sliced his hand, a nice deep slash. The soldier cried out. Will put the arrow back in his quiver. Then, he slugged the man in the face. The guard groaned and went unconscious. Will jumped onto the windowsill. He took out his longbow, drew an arrow, fitted onto the string, pulled the bowstring back, took aim, and fired. All in a second. It landed at Zander's feet. "A warning to wrongful accusers!" he yelled. Will jumped out the window and landed on his small horse, Ranger. They rode away to the small abandoned house where he had stashed his weapons. He dismounted and went into the house. He clipped the throwing knife and the longsword onto his belt. Will waited a few minutes to see if and pursuers would come.

(( I'm not keen on pursuing Will. I have to weaken Zander considerably, which makes pursuit difficult. ))
Zander groaned from the effort his impulsive attack had used. Glaeran was that important and Zander now felt it. Noone need pursue him. Will has attacked Riders and Varden warriors alike. It only pushes him further away. Now, it is I that need talk with you, Arya Shadeslayer. As soon as Eragon Shadeslayer arrives, we can talk.
-------------
Glaeran roared and took off after the coward who had tried to kill him and his rider. When he reached the window, Glaeran stopped and decided not to pursue. Young One, you spent too much energy on that spell. It could have killed you. I shall stay here to watch over the crowd. Glaeran turned his mind toward Arya. I too have need to speak with you, Arya.
------------
Hetrand moved closer toward Zander and grabbed the young rider's weapons. If something happened, Zander would need a true blade and armour. Hetrand stopped 5 feet away.

((Okay actually going to post this time. Anyone want to pursue Wil, let Chan know.))
Elva found this feast great entertainment. She still sat next to Nasuada, having assured her no one was going to be hurt and then watched with all the enthusiasm of a cat watching a mouse. The mirror image of the pair then was startling. Elva; small, pale with keen violet eyes, an amused and wicked smile pasted onto her lips. Nasuada, taller, curvier and with deep dark skin, head held into her hands and her shoulders drooping in a mix of embarassment and barely controlled anger.
Elva turned to smile at Arya who had appeared at Nasuada's shoulder. She gave the queen a prod that made her jolt, before she realised Arya was there. ''I am sorry to disturb your good times, Arya. This rider requests permission to speak with you and Eragon. After this behavior,'' Nasuada looked across the room briefly to where the rider was,''we might have to get Eragon to see him - but not for the reason this man is expecting. He is dangerous and we cannot have a completely unknown rider wandering around and causing havoc at our own feast. He either needs to be talked down or restrained - if possible. But being a rider..I don't know what to do. We cannot have any more uncontrollable riders in this world. What do you say we do?''
As the rider came up Nasauda's face fell into a calm yet fairly emotionless expression. Her face fell into her hands again as the rider sprung away and assaulted a man, making accusations of him being a spy. Eventually she gave in to her anger and stood up abruptly, her heavy chair making an ungodly screetching noise over the wooden floor. Her deep brown eyes focuses intently into the rider Zander's face. ''This is meant to be a celebratory feast for the Varden, not some childs playground for you to go throwing accusations and making demands, threats or playing games'' she spoke, still keeping her temper and voice calm despite her harsh words. For emphasis she glared hard at the arrow that was still stuck to the inner wall of the keep. ''I believe it is you has something to say before we even consider allowing you anywhere near the other riders', nevermind Shadeslayer.'' ''You shall speak to me first and only when I decide you're trustworthy you may speak with Eragon, Ayra can do as she wishes, although after that display I don't imagine she will have much to say to you until you redeem yourself in some way. How do we know we can trust you, rider and dragon? After all that?''
The guards around the room responded to her voice by moving closer to her end of the halls, effectively surrounding the rider just in case of any outburst. He had already behaved oddly and dangerously in their minds, they certainly were not going to risk him harming Nasuada.
~~
Rhaxta had watched the commotion through the door with wide, intent eyes as all hell seemed to break loose. Eventually she snapped out of her stunned stupor, then looked down to the goblet of mead before dumping the remainder of the drink onto the grass outside. Why was it when she tried to actually relax that all hell broke loose? At first she had been hopeful, any place there was a commotion a shade would probably be present- she had kept her eyes out for any sign of the Varden-allied shade-man- but there was no sign.
She jumped as there was a crash and a man - who she eventually recognised as Will - charged off on a horse at high speed. Rhaxta raised an eyebrow. The Varden really did know how to throw a party, but this was a bit much.
Eventually, Rhaxta simply dissolved into laughter at the ridiculousness of the whole thing. She had felt the magic of the new rider, and he was so outclassed by his company and didn't even realise it. For starters, that eldunari that was oathed to protect Nasuada would be able to swat him like a fly. She had felt the tendrils of magic and conciousness against hers, and was only guessing it was an eldunari. Since the strange happening in the battle of Belatona, she had been more...attuned to that sort of thing.
((That was fun, NASUADA SMASH!))

(( Nasuada Smash...Zander Pissed ))
Zander's face fell when he was confronted. There were guards surrounding him and getting ready to attack. Zander looked at Glaeran before he calmly said I am unarmed m'lady, and I mean no harm to the Varden. There was a threat to my dragons life and it caused me to react in a rash manor. The problem is that if someone attacked and killed Saphira, Eragon would have been just as rash as me to protect her. Arya may not want to speak with me, and that is her decision. I will need to speak with Shadeslayer though, as I have been told that he could train me. So, I swear by my right as a Rider, that I will not harm you or any under your care. Shining Brow, can you tell Nasuada if I will harm someone?
-----------------------
Hetrand quickly drew Air. If someone came near him or the Rider, he would have to intervene. Stepping forward, Hetrand handed Zander his own sword, New Leaf. Then he gave him the armour that he had taken off. Rider, My sire gave me these as my own. Now I give it to you. I am here to defend you if you need me to. For I am Hetrand Quickblade Aaronsson.
------------------------
Zander smiled slightly and said I do not have a requirement of aid. This is for me to do. Put your blade away kind warrior. My goal is to convince Nasuada that I am of no threat. He slid the weapons to Arya and then stood up.
-------------------------
Glaeran growled when the guards surrounded Zander. His rider had only been protecting him and now he was being accused of treason. This was not right. The guards had yet to surround Glaeran, which gave him an advantage. He jumped over the window sill and soared into the sky. If someone was going to attack his rider for defending him, then Glaeran would find the true culprit for this. Glaeran searched with his mind and then found the man named Will. Young one, I will help you, but I will not take on Saphira and the other dragons in Belatona. This treasonous scum has gone to an abandoned house. Now I will destroy him for his threat to my life and now your's. Glaeran dived at the horse and ripped the horse across the back.
((Honestly )) ((chan2000, I am making another thread for this fight. I will tell you what it is in PM...))

Arya refrained from rolling her eyes at the young girl who was taking great glee in what was happening in the feast. She gently rested her hands on the oak table in front of her, watching and listening to Nasauda carefully. Her eyebrow's slowly moved towards one another when the young dragon decided to shoot out the window.
Issie...
We've got it.
Arya breathed out slowly as Issie's mind retreated from hers and Tierar and her shot into the air after Glaeran and Will. Arya didn't want anymore fighting on a night of celebration and she doubted Nasauda would be to pleased if she found out the dragon had taken matters into his own talons. Arya also didn't like the idea of this man - Zander - talking to Eragon. That odd twist in her stomach when she thought of him made her face go blank and emotionless. Eragon was a tricky subject and her heart and mind were conflicted with what to do about the situation. He was human. Well, had been. Arya just wasn't sure what Eragon was anymore, All she knew was Eragon made her heart ache and her stomach flutter in a very unnerving way. She had tried to convince herself and him there was nothing that could happen between them. So far she didn't seem to have convinced either of them. Her hands curled very slightly into fists and she pressed her knuckles down on the table slowly as though kneading dough.
"Maybe we should do this somewhere less... public,." Arya smiled very slightly. "It is a celebration after all. I have somewhere we may all speak. Please, follow me." she smiled then nodded slightly to Zander before turning away from the table and leading him and Nasauda into one of the back study rooms which was half wrecked from the fight. Arya leaned in and whispered low for only the Varden leaders ears.
"I have someone following the dragon, I need to talk to you about her later on but I assure you she will not cause anyone harm. I have known her all my life." Arya smiled in reassurance and then swiftly nudged one plush chair to it's feet and dusted it over for the Queen like woman to sit in. Arya rested her arm against the back and the door slammed shut without her having to utter a word.
"No-one can hear us, we may speak confidently now." she said after a moment of silence while she fixed up the wards around the room to keep out prying ears.

Gharznog appeared surprised which seemed like more of an evil stare to the humans around him.He watched a warrior of the Varden offer his sword to a young, arrogant, trouble-making, rider. He was seething with anger as he spoke, "You no warrior of Varden! Even urgals give life for Nasuada!" He roared and broke into his own guttural language, he dearly wanted to rip both of them apart as his yellow eyes glared at them. "You no battle-brother! You shame-sword!" He growled his breathing heavy as he stared at Hertrand.
"You rider, you want help? You ask kindly and wait! Pups like you need learn their place and respect!" He directed at Zander as they left. The Kull looked as though he would rip apart anything near him. The whole ordeal was insulting at a victory celebration of all places and causing trouble where there wasn't any before. All because of a rider and a bad entrance.
