Silis took a step forward and looked up at Caspian. She felt bad for the new rider, but it was very hard to cry as a gaint cat. Sorrow shown in her eyes as she cocked her head to the side. He was a farm boy? Why did dragons seem to chose people without a title or importance to be their rider? The werecat asked this question to herself, but really she knew the answer. Because people without importance had a smaller chance of abusing the power. They would most likely be kind and do good with their dragon. Although, the obviously didn't work out the way it was planned.
My adopted sister is a rider as well. We was just a peasent elf from Ellesmera. No one respected her, they all laughed at her. But either way, she came to the Varden and fight for them no matter how many hardships she faced on the way. And no matter how many of her friends and family had died... SIlis began and paused for a moment. With a deep breathe she continued, I could try to help you as well. I have helped elves with their magic for my whole life, even if I don't actually have magic. And I'll help fight to get your family back too.

Nepherion snapped his head over his shoulder to hear the voice of the other rider. He must have been thinking everything over. He thought to himself. His lids of his eyes lowered slightly in the boy's confusion, at first a whirlwind of pity and sympathy swelled up inside of him. Than gradually and almost as if instinctively a pit of anger begin to overflow inside of him. His crouched position had been maintain ever since he had poked the large cat's forehead. The pure scaled hatchling must have felt his feelings through the deep seeded bond the two shared. Cause the dragon suddenly came into Nepherion's downward vision, and placed his paw onto his knee. With a tilted head the dragon, flushed Nepherion's doubts and storm of emotions with a undeniable comfort and calm. Nepherion's chest heaved in and out, slowly regaining his weary smile. He placed his hand on the head of the dragon and smiled warmly towards him. It was nice to have a friend that understood what you were going through all the time. Thank you, white one. Now I know exactly what I have to do.
Standing from his crouch position, over his shoulder he could hear Caspain's pleas and Nandon's words of assurances. He was sure his now bonded dragon fully understood his attentions, for when he walked towards the desk that Caspain was sitting near, the dragon hopped ontop of it and faced the poor boy. Nepherion who placed a hand onto it's surface, pushed himself atop of it and stood over, Caspain, Nandon, and the dark cat. His brows farrowed towards Caspain, who seemed to dwell in his own self-pity and doubts of the future. Beside him, the small white dragon, fixed his rubies on Caspain's teary face as well. He wanted to comfort him like the others, but he wasn't one for all the love dovey stuff.
With a moment of hesitation, Nepherion's eyes glanced onto the faces of the three below him. Than his eyes farrowed even more, exposing a even more fierce expression than before. " You don't know what to do ? " His folded arms dropped to his side, and his expression softened from sympathy that both him and his dragon was feeling. " Well neither do I. And now, my family has to go through the pain of losing a son, just like you have to go through the pain of not knowing if your family is alive..." For a moment his words escaped him, he grasped at words that he felt would convey his feelings to Caspain, but found none. So he was force to be blunt. " The point is, were in different situations..but are the same. We're both new to this.... Your a farm boy and I'm an orphan..." Nepherion lowered himself onto the desk, his legs criss-crossed and his arms pressed against his thighs. " Thing is, I'd rather not be aligned with anyone either... But I don't really like the thought of letting the Empire do what they want.. We all have to fight in our lives. The only thing we can really control.. is who and what we fight for. " His deep blue eyes were centered on Caspian's glistening eyes. Maybe, his words were long and drawn out and maybe they meant little to anyone else listening, but still it felt good for him to let them out.
His torn and dirtied clothes were a testimony to the beating he had received from the soldiers of the town yesterday. Even now the anger from the beating fueled his actions and his choice to join the Varden. He wouldn't let his family or any of the villagers here, wroth in their oppression. The immaculate dragon swayed his spiked tail as his long neck looked up towards Nepherion's determined stare. Though, he kept his eyes on Caspain, he could feel the white dragon's wondering eyes on him. " Caspain, your not in this alone. Like you, I've been chosen too. I can feel this confounding bond with this dragon. " He said putting his right hand on the skull of the dragon, petting him gently. " Just put everything you hold dear together. And your answer will become clear. " With a bit of laughter at the end, he outstretched his legs to the edge of desk, dangling them as a comforting smile decorated his face.

Sephora took some comfort in Nandon reaching out to her. Well at least if he and the werecat were here maybe they could help him. Shouldn't she have been the main one to help her rider? well yes but she was yet only a baby dragon and knew little of the world yet. Caspian didn't really react when Nandon placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. The boy felt like the weight of the world was on him, he felt helpless to stand up to fate. He was unable to fully accept his his fate as a rider so instead of willingly taking it the responsibility was shoved upon him.
Normally Caspian would've cringed away from Sills contacting him mentally. He wasn't really used to communicating that way and felt like an open book when anyone touched his mind. However, at the moment Caspian was to overwhelmed to react that way.
It seemed Sill's adopted sister had faced plenty of troubles as well and she was a rider too. Caspian couldn't take much comfort in the knowledge though, in his state he wasn't really thinking clearly to understand the full connection.
What he did hear and understand most was The offer of Sills and Nandon helping him. He did need help. His life was twisted into something he didn't want and he didn't know how to untwist it.
Caspian tried to stop crying but only partially succeeded. He only nodded his head in thanks unable to choke out the words. How was he to learn magic? Only elves could use it right? How could they teach him that? He didn't dwell on it long. He was very ignorant in what being a dragon rider meant. He had no clue that all riders had potential to use magic, maybe that was part a lack of knowledge and part that he had never used it, not even by accident.
For a few seconds Caspian meet Starnight's gaze. She only reminded him of what he had to do. Become a rider like everyone else who had a dragon. There was no alternative.
Nepherion's first words did not really help Caspian at least not at first. His words were not comforting exactly in tone, and the bluntness was like a kick in the gut. But that was more or less what he needed. Someone to tell him to stop wallowing in self-pity. Something he had been doing almost all his life. He and the other new rider really were quite similar, aside from his dragon, Nepherion probably could understand best why he was so overwhelmed.
'Just put everything you hold dear together. And your answer will become clear.'
Considering the whole situation of his life and what had happened, Caspian tried to pull himself together. Self-pity was still there but so was reason. While he didn't have much choice in this, joining the Varden was the safest for him and....
Caspian? the golden dragon said to her rider. Her rider was surprised and rather shocked when she spoke to him. This was the first time she'd ever called him by name. While not fluent in language yet she reverted back to emotions and imagery. She showed him that while this was not the fate he wanted it was the best of all possible fates. If he were to become a rider he could find and even save his family. He could help fight this war and live in peace thereafter. The road would not be easy but anything worth having never was easy. Everything else aside, she would stay by his side forever.
When she finished speaking to him she arched her back and rubbed up against Caspian in a cat-like manner.
Caspian was calming down now. He had to accept the situation. His dragon was right. Nandon and Sills would help him. And he was not really alone in this Nepherion had a similar fate. "I-I'm sorry," he muttered apologizing for falling apart. Tears still came but not as steady as before. Time for self pity was over.

Silis watched the golden dragon rub up againest her rider and then she heard Caspian apologize. The black werecat's tense shoulders relaxed and she inhaled deeply. She was glad that the rider seemd to be feeling a little better, but she couldn't help but wonder if it was enough.
He seemed to be in a sorrowful state, and was overwhelmed with the idea of being so important to the Varden's failure or winning. The Varden needed as many riders as possible, for the Empire's riders were all very strong and seemed to spend half the day practicing their fighting skills.
Silis noticed that no matter how they tried to cheer him up, he seemed to not want to be bothered at the moment. At least he was calmed down now, and maybe would listen to what they were saying more clearly. It was worth a try.
Caspian... I understand this is hard. It is for all of us, and we never know what will happen the next day. But sometimes all we can do is live our lives day by day and fight for what we believe in. Just think, maybe someday the cruel King will be defeated, and we will all live in peace. We'll live our own lives, and be completely free. Silis spoke to Caspian mentally, hoping it wouldn't freak him out.
The large, sleek black cat sat down and shifted her paws uncomfortably on the hard ground. She didn't like being in werecat form when she was trying to speak to someone. Sometimes she couldn't tell which form was her true form. Or maybe she didn't even have one. Suddenly, she became aware of something hanging around her neck, and she looked down to see her smooth river stone necklace was still dangling around her neck when she was in werecat form. That was the only thing she had left from her mother. Not her adopted mother, but her real mother. Her father had been a theft that she had never met.

Caspian did not welcome the mental contact as Sills spoke. He felt so exposed. But he didn't know how to stop it or block her even if he wanted to. He was fearful of the contact and he knew Sills would know that. She was in his head now.
"What if that day never comes and there is never peace to live in?" He asked Sills aloud. He didn't want to respond in thought. The idea made him nervous and he was doing well just to listen to her without yelling at her to get out of his head.
While he felt helpless and didn't know enough to even hold his own in battle, he would try at least for Sephora's sake. But still what if it wasn't enough? What if all his effort was for nothing?
"Then the effort will have been for a good cause and you need not have any regrets," the golden dragon said to him. She was sitting in his lap staring right at him. Her liquid golden eyes seemed to be able to look right though him to his soul.
She broke her gaze to look at Sills. "What must we do?" she asked. She sent along images and emotions. She was asking what was the first step they would take as Rider and Dragon for both training and aiding in the Varden's cause.

Nepherion swung his legs, softly cutting the air with his long, gentle kicks. His hide sat on the wooden desk, a smile sincerely plastered on his face. Though inside he couldn't help but feel like a failure. The whole, use the Varden plan than fly the coot thing had been blurted out, accidentally. But it was phrased in a way that many wouldn't even guess towards it. Nepherion kept his hand on the crown of the pale scaled dragon, careful of not scraping his skin against the hard smooth gems that laid against his muscles. As he patted against the white fur, his hand grazed against blunt spikes midst his spine. A widen expression, opened his lids. I never knew you had spikes.. . The small cat-size dragon, curled it's neck over towards his back, as if to inspect the statement for it's truth. Than with a shrug of it shoulders, simply placed it's snout on his rider's thigh. Looking up to Caspain, Nepherion continued to pet the young dragon. " Besides. Don't you think this new friend, is worth it all.. I know it's hard to see, but I can feel it. It'll be with me forever. " He said leaping off the desk and onto the wooden ground. The white dragon instantly lifted his head at it's disturbed comfort, than noticing Nepherion's descent, flapped it's wings roughly than flew to the ground. it talons screeched against the wood, leaving tiny streaming scrapes from his landing. It sent images and emotions of discomfort.
The weird thing about this show of emotions and images was that gradually but surely they were becoming more and more clear. Usually they were blurred, and grazed half-heartily against his consciousness, but this time he understood it all. It raised a question that Nepherion attempted to barricade amongst thoughts of his own, that he attempted to keep to himself. Is it...Learning ? He said looking down towards the philosophical eyes of dragon. Shaking it out of his head, Nepherion looked up and placed his hands on his waist. " So, what now Nandon ? When will we start this journey to the Varden ? " His gaze, though uplifted and happy, held a hint of sadness and solemn. " I feel like it should be soon. I don't know if I'll have the courage to leave them if we wait. "

A large grin grew on the black werecat's face. They were going to join! The Varden had two new dragon riders! Silis was overjoyed, but she knew there was much to get done before they could actually fight in a battle with their dragons. The dragons would have to wait until they were four months old to be included in a battle.
Silis stretched her conscious out to Nepherion as well as Nandon and Caspian so that she could speak to them all. It was frustrating as a cat. Yet that was where she felt more comfortable. She didn't know what she would do if she was always in humanoid form, she felt so weak.
We should probably go soon. When we get there, my adopted sister could teach you about magic and fighting skills. She may know nothing of fighting with her dragon, but she has had more then a hundred years to work on magical fighting and swordsmanship. Silis replied mentally as she looked around at the two riders, two dragons, and the elf in the room.

Nandon who had sat back down in his chair stood up and tried to silence them with a upheld hand "We will leave tonight..." Nandon said scanning the faces before continuing "Gather what things you have... say your goodbyes... and gather supplies..." Nandon continued on with a slight joyous expression on his face then he looked over to nepherion "Are you sure you dont want to bring your family with you? i can teleport us all" He said the placed a palm on his head as he remembered something "Ah yes... im not powerful enough to 4 people and two dragons to the varden at once... so we will take this in steps..." then he sat back down

Silis nodded. If they were leaving tonight, she wanted to get a few things done. She needed to gather up a little more information from the Empire soldiers. Also, she didn't want to return back to the Varden in werecat form. She would need to become a humanoid in order to talk to people once she returned.
If we are leaving tonight, I must get a few things done. See everyone later, she spoke to Nepherion, Nandon, Caspian, Starlight, and the golden dragon. Then the black werecat turned around and began to pad out onto the streets of Teirm.
Silis padded onto the warm gravel of the streets and sighed. She was slightly disappointed that she had more to do, even if it was small. The black werecat padded around the block to where the Empire soldiers had been standing before she went to visit the others. The same two soldiers were there, talking and complaining. She padded up to them and looked at the one closest to her.
"Mrreow!" She meowed in a voice that sounded slightly like a purr. The soldier bent down to pet her, and Silis allowed him to. That was very difficult for her, and the whole time she had to try not to bite his hand.

Caspian did not say so aloud but like Nepherion he felt that his bond with his dragon was permanent. If not just for the fact that he knew he did not want to be separated from his dragon. He nodded at Nandon. He was in kind of a daze with all the information and everything that had happened. "The only belongings I have are either with me or packed on my horse's saddle bags. Should I bring my horse here?" he asked Nandon. "I won't leave him behind."
The golden dragon stayed in Caspian's lap. She watched as Sills left and partly wanted to follow her. But Caspian needed her and she wouldn't leave her Rider.

Nepherion felt the stinging touch towards his mind and almost instantly looked towards the black cat, he wasn't sure how he knew it was her. But he could just tell. Almost as if she was speaking from directly out her mouth. It just echoed to him. Looking at the night feline, Nepherion slid off the desk till his worn boots touch the creaking floor. His torn shirt, barely even considered clean anymore was torn from torso to side. As the cat spoke, one thing that she said stuck to him. The fact that he would be trained in combat and magic by an elf. Truthfully, he didn't even think they had existed, and would probably scoff at the proposal if Nandon wasn't right in front of him.
With a gleeful smile, Nepherion raised a fist in the air and brought it to his side. " This is gonna be so awesome. Think about it, Me the dragon rider !!!. No. Nepherion the Dragon Rider " The innocent smile of a child and exuberant laughter of an infant was released. " I'm so excited ! I can barely hold it in. " When the cat dismissed itself, Nepherion waved a small casual salute to the elegant feline. Still smiling brightly as she departed.
With her departure, it was down to the original three again. The elf Nandon, yours truly, and Caspain the other dragon rider. Nepherion turned back towards Nandon, tilting his head ever so slightly towards the roof. His upper lid partially sunk over his iris. " Yea. I don't want them involved at all. As far everyone is concerned, I'm dead from here on out. " A veil of sadness soon eveloped the boy's happiness. It was like night had taken of the light sky to early. And than suddenly, he felt a absolute calm and new happiness overwhelm him. He wasn't quite sure where it came from but he was appreciative of it. His eyes widen in a new found strength. " Or atleast until I'm an official rider. " He said pounding a closed fist ontop of his breast.
The white dragon was sleep, but could still feel the hurt and pain of his rider. For a moment, the boy was filled with a sense of purpose and excitement, but that was quickly overshadowed, by a dark, tainted pain that he attempted to keep in check. The charade probably fooled everyone in the room. Like Nepherion, the dragon would be forever connected to the soul of his partner, no matter how bad it had gotten. And, it was this compulsive need to protect his rider, from every type of pain that was almost frightening to him. Still, even though he attempted to sleep off the fat rat and bountiful fish of earlier. He ease the boy hurt, with the calm and happy feeling he had swimming after his prey that morning. Hopefully that would snap him out of his little rut. Proving to all, that they would one day be the strongest of the strong.
