"To Helgrind, the Shade has dweled there." replied Laetri. When they landed he quickly got down and Agaravel slid her tail so Aryanna could get down qnd they set out to find the Shade in the Dark Gates.

As soon as Aryanna's feet were on the ground her hand was on the hilt of her sword. She didn't unsheathe it yet, just rested her hand on the hilt. Her bow was also strung and ready to use on her back, it sat in her quiver that was full of arrows. Her eyes glinted in the sunlight as she glanced around her at her surroundings. Everything seemed barren and dead around the tall mountain called Helgrind. She had never been there, but she's heard it's dark stories. "How do we get inside?" She asked Laetri.

Laetri replied by walking through an illusion of stone and reappearing saying, "Come, there is no one in there." He then went back in and began searching. He found Agaravel in a place with two halls. He quickly cast a werelight and jumped backwards instinctively as he saw the Shade there, looking at him with maroon eyes.
Agaravel was the first to react, she quickly whipped her tail like a large strong whip and slammed it into the Shade but Laetri felt a quick drop in his energy as his wards protected her from getting her tail sliced. Unsheathing Thringa quickly he used the opening to his advantage and narrow avoided having his left shoulder being cut before stabbing at the Shade's heart. He missed however.
Laetri backed up and began on the defense hoping Aryanna had the sense to run away while she can.

Aryanna pulled her bow, Wiol Breoal, and held an arrow at the ready. Then she drew back the sting and aimed for the Shade's heart, just as she'd been taught. As she readied to release the arrow, she felt a strong force attempt to break down her mind's walls. She fought back, letting the arrow drop a little bit waiting for an opening. As they warred she shot hitting him in the shoulder and hopefully giving Laetri and opening to stab his heart. As she released the arrow with a twang, her mind was bombarded with darkness as the Shade tried to break through.

Laetri silently cursed Aryanna for her foolish bravery and protected her mind with his as Agaravel reinforced them both. When the Shade's concentration wavered for a second and he had the small unlikely chance of stabbing him in the heart. Focusing on protecting Aryanna's mind he quickly lunged insanely and stabbed the sword...right through the Shade's heart.
The Shade looked down at the aqua-blue blade that came in from his chest and out his back and looked at Laetri with cold maroon eyes then gave a last cry and he fell. Laetri fell with exhaustion and slipped out of consciousness even as he heard Agaravel attempting to get him up. His last thought was that he was glad he'd been able to save Aryanna before he fell into unconsciousness and closed his eyes..for what might be his last time.

Aryanna shoved her bow back into the quiver and rushed over to Laetri's side. Being trained in healing magic she quickly used her knowledge to assess the damage done to his body as she gently tried to speak to him in his mind. She didn't want to attack his barriers nor break through with her mind in case he retaliated, so she just gently spoke just outside the wall in his mind, trying to coax him back into consciousness. As she did so, she healed his smaller wounds and such, and as she did so she realized that he must be exhausted. Slowly, she stemmed some of her strength into him, giving him just enough to pull him away from the void. She wasn't very tired as he did most of the fighting, so she let him have most of it, she could siphon some from the gem in the pommel of her sword if he took too much.

Laetri felt Aryanna and realized that if she drained energy from the gem in Thringa into him he'd be better, yet he was so tired. "Thringa..." was all he managed to say before slipping back out of consciousness.

Aryanna realized he must have a gem in his own sword when he called it's name, so she grabbed it and began to transfer the energy from the gem, through herself, and into him.

Sitting up with a sudden gasp Laetri looked at Aryanna with his startling light-blue eyes. He jumped up as he realized how close she was and he blushed. "Thank you, though next time I ought to throw you off a cliff for your foolishness. If I hadn't been lucky we would've all died here." he said, trying to be angry though his voice was soft.
Laetri looked up and didn't have much time to think before Agaravel pounced on him and licked him. He was glad he was wearing armor, else her tongue would have stripped him of all his skin. "I'm so glad! Thank you Aryanna, I owe you my life for that." Agaravel exclaimed as she mercilessly licked Laetri who was overcome and being crying out of relief, happiness, and a sense of peace.
Finally standing up Laetri walked over to Aryanna and looked at her menacingly. She could have died! He then did the last thing expected; he hugged her tight and whispered into her ear, "Thank you..thank you Aryanna." his voice soft and soothing.

Aryanna watched, stunned as Agaravel pounced on her rider. Then even more stunned when LAetri hugged her. She had thought from his death glare that she was to receive an earful, and instead she received a hug. As He hugged her she whispered, "You do realize that I am fully capable of protecting myself. Especially my own mind." Then she pushed him away gently and moved to sit against the cave wall. She was exhausted. None of the energy that had passed through her had actually stayed with her, and after that she was a little light headed. "I ought to call you foolish, for using what energy you could have focused on that shade all up trying to protect me. I could've handled it..." She mumbled the last part to herself, feeling like a child who'd been tricked out of a sweet.

Laetri let his head back and laughed. "Is that so?" he askex her before attacking her mind. "My mind is more powerful than your yet weaker than a Shade. You ha no chance against him."

Aryanna fought back effortlessly. She had been trained by her father who could hold his own against any rider. She may not be the best swordsman or the best archer or ever the best at stealth, but when it came to protecting her mind she was the best. Her wall wasn't even a wall anymore. Her mind was a sea of thought, those who entered often got lost- and that is how she protects herself. She lets people in, but once they are in the sea, they cannot find anything, it is all blocked by tall, strong walls of water that pound against the mind that enters. This is what Laetri was experiencing now. His own wall was being attacked, just for entering his mind. Her mind automatically reached out with small tendrils of ice and poked at his mind barrier, not trying to break through, just causing irritation. What seemed like ocean spray clouds his vision as the assault continued. Her mind bombarded his with a strength no one ever expects from her. Her mind was her own, not even Laetri could take it from her. She allowed her voice to echo menacingly throughout her mind, "Like I said, I could have protected myself." And with that, she pushed him effortlessly from her mind, closing it off completely, her sea of though freezing into an impenetrable barrier.

Grinning in evil glee Laetri had slipped Thringa out of it's sheath and it was not an inch from Aryanna's neck. "Dead." he whispered. "It would have taken the Shade not even a quarter of that effort to kill you." Sheathing Thringa he said, "Come, let us not talk about unpleasantries." and with that he carried her onto Agaravel even as she shot out of the Dark Gates.

Aryanna realized her foolishness and blushed. She was glad he couldnt see her face from where he sat. "So where are we off to?" She asked him, her musical voice caught in the wind.

"Somewhere calm, somewhere where I can meditate without any battles, somewhere with peace." Laetri replied, somewhat wistful. Agaravel flew steadily and she knew from his mind where he wanted to go.
When they finally landed at the top of a mountain, in the middle of an elven city, a dwarf city, and a human city, Laetri got down and helped Aryanna down before climbing a tree and meditating. After awhile he went back to Aryanna smiling and began imitating the voices of the birds he'd just been in their minds.

Aryanna smiled and lay down on the ground. The grass was green and soft and warm. She let her head rest on her arm and her eyes close as she listened to the sounds of the animals and plants. She felt Laetri return and heard him sing with the birds. She smiled softly and kept her eyes closed, letting his voice blend in with the other sounds.

Laetri sat down next to Aryanna feeling happy and continued singing. He felt strong qnd confident sitting there with Agaravel and Aryanna near him. He stood up, yawned and suddenly found himself falling asleep next to Aryanna. ((I think imma put in my werecat. Is that OK?))

((Sure)) Aryanna smiled as Laetri drifted off to sleep. She hummed quietly to herself and pulled her fingers gently through her hair. As she looked around she noticed some flowers growing about the small glade they were in. She gathered some and then wove them into the braid that she draped over her right shoulder. The sunlight filtered through the trees beautifully in the forest around them and the glade was glistening from the reflection of Agaravel's scales. She sighed happily and leaned back on her hands to look up at the sky.

Avinder walked around the mountain where he saw his old friend and her Rider land and when he got up there, they were both asleep yet there was a woman with blond hair whom Laetri was sleeping next to.
Avinder prowled over to her, wondering whether she'd mistake him for a normal house cat or not and slowly walked onto her lap and curled himself and began drifting to sleep. He missed his companion, the elf whom he'd saved that night. She used to always have him sleep in her tent next to her pillow and she'd scratch him behind his ears, always there was interesting events around her. Alas, she died in the Battle on The Burning Plains where Avinder was severely wounded.

Aryanna jumped a bit as something touched her leg. Looking down she saw something she'd thought she'd never see. A werecat.
She froze as it settled in her lap and drifted off to sleep. She relaxed a little then and returned to braiding her hair.
