He smiled as it hatched and chuckled when she passed out. He stood up and walked to the little dragon, slowly, assuring it with his mind that he was a friend, and checked on Verya. "I suppose we should make camp until she wakes." he said to Sonya as she looked after the little dragon, who had moved and curled up next to Verya.
He soon had a small shelter erected over Verya, a small fire going, and the baby dragon fed. He sat near the fire, whittling a stick, and humming a tune. The tune was soft and flowing, and, with the power of Vedrit's voice, floated through the forest like a whisper in the wind

(OOC: If you got on earlier and I hadn't replied its because my brother erased the part that I had and he shut down my computer. Sorry)
The soothing sound of music flooded Elendrial's ears and brought her slowly back to the world. Her right hand hurt from when she had touched the hatchling. The hatchling, where is he?
She shot up from where she lay, making her head spin and ache. Quickly she fell back to the floor and lay there looking up at the small shelter around her. A scaly feeling object rubbed up against the side of her face and made her jump. She turned over to see a black hatchling staring at her with curiosity. Slowly she moved her hand over its head and rubbed it.
"Hello little one."
The dragon made gurgeling noises and snuggled next to her face. Elendrial sat up and cradled the dragon in her arms. She turned to Vedrit.
"Did you make this?"
She pointed to the shelter covering her.
Why did he not kill me while he had the chance? Does he not recognize the symbol?
She moved over by the fire and sat down. Her body shivered from the event that just happened.

He stopped humming abruptly when she sat up. "Careful. Your still a bit woozy from earlier, incase you hadn't noticed. Yes, I made the shelter. The weather here can be strange and sudden, and Im sure your new friend wouldn't want you getting sick or dieing." he said, before turning his attention back to the fire and adding a few more sticks. Sonya watched the baby dragon, almost motherly.
"So whats your real name?" he idly asked

Elendrial abruptly stood up and faced Vedrit. It happened so suddenly that she almost dropped the dragon but his teeth clenched to her hand and bit down sharp. She screamed and the dragon crawled into her cloak. Slowly she pulled it out and cradled it in her arms.
"I'm so sorry little one. I'm so sorry."
She rubbed his head and turned again toward Vedrit.
"What...what do you mean my real name? How...how do you know?"
She started to feel nervous and tense like the whole world was falling down upon her. This was it. Her few moments of happiness had now come to an end and certainly her world would stop here.
"My name is..." She paused looked down at the ground contemplating on whether or not to lie again.
"My name is Elendrial."

He looked to Sonya, asking for her input. "You lied when you told me where you were going, so why should I have believed your name?" he asked, "But it is a good trait to learn, lieing to those you dont trust, or those you fear. But you need to be adamant in your lie. If you quail, then so does your lie." he said, still not looking at her. He glanced up, "You look as if I had just killed your dragon." he said gravely, "Maybe you should sit down." The stick he was whittling began taking a shape. I was a tall, slender figure, presumably elven.

Elendrial was shaking from nervousness. She held the dragon close to her chest and slowly moved to the ground. What was happening to her? She felt so different. Elendrial watched Vedrit whittle the stick and sat in awe of the figure. Sephiroth used to whittle and create creatures and "friends" for her. She had lived in a world that no longer existed. Perhaps it never had but maybe, maybe it did. When she used to play there she was queen and she always searched for some prince or hero to rescue her. Even a child that was beaten and bruised and taught how to murder still searched for her prince to come. Sephiroth made her a prince once; well he started to. He never finished the face but the rest of the figure was there. It was her favorite one. She got to imagine the face and it changed often. Elendrial remembered that she had brought it with her and reached for her pouch. All of the contents seemed to have been returned. Slowly she put the sleeping dragon on her lap and pulled out the wrapped figure from her sack.
"My brother used to whittle when I was little. He used to make them for me."
She unwrapped the figure and held it out to Vedrit.
"This was my favorite one, even though it didn't have a face."
She smiled and put her head down. Guilt overwhelmed her; maybe she should tell the truth.
Perhaps. Perhaps.

He examined the figure, admiring the detail. "Your brother was talented. A shame he couldnt finish the face." he said. He would have offered to carve a face, but it would have been like drawing a tree in a forest. Even if the tree was well drawn, it just didnt belong.
He had no idea what the final product of his whittling would be; he never did. He would just start and the outcome would be something beautiful.
"I once saw a dragon that was carved from wood. It was small, but there were few details missing. I wish I knew who had carved it. Such talent that was needed to make such a work of art is an envy to me." he paused from his whittling, remembering the smoothnes, the small dips that were never out of place, the eyes, so carefully carved. It was almost enough to bring a tear to his eye. Almost.

Elendrial smiled at the compliments Vedrit gave about her brother. She listened closely to his last comments and remembered something. Sephiroth had once carved a dragon.
"My brother carved a dragon before. I don't know if it's the same you saw but it may be. He was incredibly good and my father often made him get rid of them because the man wanted my brother to become a killer, not a carpenter. He often would sell them to the outside world and he told me that when he left Hel....home, he would use carpentry and whittling as his trade."
She quickly brought her head down and watched her dragon who had now hopped to the ground and was chasing a mouse. How could her tongue slip. She almost said the word, the place she was from.

He shrugged, "If this figure were any example, it could be very likely." he said, ignoring what he thought she started to say, simply because of what it meant.
He chuckled, watching the baby dragon, "Its a mouse today, and a whole herd of deer next week." he joked, and Sonya snorted her amusement. "Birth today, death next week." she joked, meaning the short lifes of humans

Elendrial smiled and watched as the dragon caught the mouse and slurped the tail. He didn't waist one piece of it. Her smile slowly turned. She needed to to Vedrit.
"I'm sorry I lied to you. I hate lying and fearing for my life, so I need to tell you. I know you may kill me after I do tell you but please try to understand. I need to tell you who I am."
She paused realizing that these may be her last words.
" I am from Helgrind and my father was a dragon killer. His name was Drone and he was Galbatorix's second in charge. I am nothing like my father. I'm just confused and I don't know what to do."
She looked up at Vedrit with tears in her eyes. The little dragon crawled up onto Elendrial's lap and then to her chest. He cuddled up against her trying to comfort her.

He sighed. So much for hoping it wasn't true. He didn't say anything for a minute or two, then "What do you intend on naming your dragon?" he asked. He was willing to drop and forget about what she had just said is she was

Elendrial looked straight up at him in awe. He did not kill her but instead changed the subject.
"Why? What? I..."
She was so confused but decided to drop the subject as well.
"I'm not sure what I will name it. I don't even know if it's a girl or boy."
She opened her mind for the first time to the dragon. He immediatly came back with a remark.
"What do you mean boy or girl. I'm a boy of course. No girl could ever catch a mouse like I did."
Elendrial jumped in suprise.
"He talks Vedrit."

He raised an eyebrow. "So soon? It took Sonya several months. He should only be communicating like most animals do, through images and feelings."
He held his chin in though, wondering what could have been different about the dragons birth than Sonya's, but couldnt find anything important that he knew of.
"Well, what ever the case, be glad. Raising him will be much easyer. Its often hard to find the images or feelings you want in order to convey what you intend."

Elendrial looked back at the little dragon. He should be older before he speaks? Her mind kept going back to the fact that Vedrit hadn't killed her.
"I can't just ignore it. Why? Why haven't you killed me? I...my father murdered dragons. I am his heir. I promised to follow his footsteps. I swore an oath. I don't want to. I...I can't take it. It hurts and hurts. The pain never ends."
Her head spun and hurt more than any other time. The worst pain came from her side, the place her father had stabbed her with a knife. She wore the cloak partially to hide her appearance but mostly to hide her scars. She feared that they were her fault when truthfully they weren't. She always thought her father beat her for a reason but it was just he beat her to beat her. There was no reason. The scar on her side was done with a poisen blade and no matter how much magic was used to heal her, there was still some there and when emotions reached a high, it hurt more than anything.
Elendrial grabbed her side with one hand and grabbed the dragon with the other. She screamed in pain.

Vedrit entered her mind. Yes, it was rude, but he needed to get a point across. "Yes, I could kill you. But I believe you when you saw that you dont want to follow in his footsteps. Oath or not, Ancient Language or not, you still have a choice. Nothing can command your fate so tightly." he said, then comforted her by sharing her pain.
When the pain subsided, he left her mind, having no reason to stay

Elendrial thanked Vedrit after he shared the pain.
"Only two people in the world have ever been kind to me and you are one of them. Thank you."
The elf looked down at the dragon that was still cuddled against her. In a couple days he would be to big to do this. She slowly opened her mind to him again. He just showed a black space, a shadow thrown over his thoughts.
Why are you doing this little one? I need to find a name for you and I want you to tell me what you think.
The shadow still stayed. It reminded her of herself when she was a child. A shadow loomed over her then and possibly stayed even now.
Perhaps that should be his name, Shadow or he could be Shadowen.
At this the dragon sat up and payed close attention to her. She had found his name.
"Vedrit, his name shall be Shadowen. What do you think?"

((You should probably say what color your dragon is, lol))
He nodded, "A good name, Shadowen. May he guide you in troubled times." he said, though whether it matters or not is out of his hands.
'I wish someone were there when you hatched to give us a blessing.' he said to Sonya. 'Am I not blessing enough?' she asked and rubbed her head gently against his. 'You are but...' he couldn't find a good reason, really, just the want for someone to have wished them luck, given them atleast a small hope in bleak times

(I'm so sorry that I haven't been on. I had alot to do this week and my parents just got home yesterday from out of country. Sorry.)
Elendrial held the little black dragon up to her face and examined him.
"I've never seen a black dragon before. He's beautiful! Thank you for the blessing Vedrit."
The dragon brushed against her mind almost as if to tell her something. The dragon wouldn't talk since earlier. Perhaps only that one time he would. After a picture of a hand on a head, she understand what he was saying, they needed to bless them.
"Vedrit I know that it may be a little late but here is one for you and your dragon. May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon you face and may you and your dragon live forever in prosperity. You and Sonya have been so kind to Shadowen and I, I feel I must repay you."
She moved over to Sonya and put a hand on her head and turned to Vedrit.
"May I?"
Of course Elendrial had told her new friend nothing. It was her secret.

He listened solemnly Elendrials blessing to them. He knew she ment it, and nodded his thanks. Both, Sonya and Vedrit, tilted their heads when El neared her hand to Sonya's head. He looked to Sonya, who sent a curious mental-nod, and Vedrit nodded back to El, Sonya preparing her mind for whatever she had planned.

Elendrial smiled and turned to the beautiful white dragon in front of her. The elf moved her hand carefully across the dragon's face and eyes almost as if painting a perfect picture. As her hand moved, so did her mouth. The words were inaudible and another language. It was a blessing that her brother had taught her when she was young. He had told her that the person or creature in this case, could not know the blessing untill the right time had come and now was not the right time. When she finished, she pulled her hand away and looked down. When she brought her head up her eyes glowed red. Quickly she shook the feeling off and turned toward Vedrit.
"In times of trouble help wil come Vedrit. I think we should move from here. We have been sitting in one place for to long."
Elendrial moved to Shadowen and picked the little dragon up. Next she carefully picked up her pouch and placed her hood over her head.
"We must leave now."
